Player Discussion Jake Sanderson (D) PART 3

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it. Click Here for Updates
Sanderson 2 assists in last 11 games
Giroux 1 assist in last 8 games
Greig 2 assists in last 11 games
Pinto 0 points in 3 games ( just came back from injury)

Norris 4 points in last games
Batherson 4 points last 8 games

We need the guys mentioned above to step up and start producing in November.

Here are the 3 that are leading our November point totals
Timmy 7 in 8
Brady 6 in 8
Chabot 6 in 8
Soon there will be decisions on players. Maybe not immediate transactions but decisions that will eventually turn into moves.

It's true, and it's crazy he doesn't have any even strength points.

Even by accident, he should have a few assists, just from transition.

He needs to be better.
He’s limited in transition. His skating is insane. It what do with it once he reaches the blue line. No clue

Such a competitor but you feel bad for where his stats and game are at right now.

You wonder if the amount of minutes played are getting to him, I don’t think he’s as physically tired as he is mentally from the battle level and he’s just not trusting g his game li,e he did early in the season, he seems to be just a touch slower in his decisi8n making and confidence

He’s not the biggest guy, not everyone can be at Scott Neibermeyer’s intensity level every shift, he looks tired or injured

Its inevitable. If this team can't at least come close to a playoff spot and be somewhat consistent this year . . the experiment has failed and the core needs to be shaken up.

Whatever piece will be taken out of the equation will be a piece we don't want to lose. Probably Tkachuk. But its either that or tear the whole thing down . .. again.

It's just not the right fit
It happens
A bit like in Nashville where they brought big UFAs and it's a disaster
Here they brought good scorers and good goalies who succeed elsewhere but the core here just doesn't mesh and they will have to tear it down imo
Not like they are waiting for couple of high high end prospects that are going to turn it around
We have nothing in the pipeline except for Yak

It's kind of weird, last year, Sanderson and Zub lead all D on the team in +/-, this year they have the worst, their usage hasn't changed they just haven't been good at all.

For all the complaints about this team being inconsistent or not being good enough, this pairing's decline explains a lot. If they are playing the way they did last year we are comfortably in a playoff spot right now imo.

I think Dorion really shit the bed by not surrounding the young stars with veteran leadership. Gotta get at players young to pick up those good habits and learn to not let things get to them.

Maybe the Tkachuks and Stutzles are just shaky mentally . . . but perhaps that losing culture has become so ingrained due to a lack of perspective from established players that it will be hard to lose with the whole group playing together.

I have no doubt that all these players will be excellent players at some point, some where, but you're right . . . the mix just doesn't work here. Or at least it seems. Maybe they win 5 in a row and shut us all up.

Just feels like history repeats itself with this group.

Ottawa doesn’t have a complete forward in the top 6, nobody we have has a 200 foot game comparable to an Alfie, Hossa, Toewes.

The only player who’s even tried the complete player suit on is Stutzle, and he only got to try it one for like 2 games, had to return it.

If Brady decides to be a 200 foot player, we’ll be a wagon. If he wants to play 1980s hockey, we aren’t going anywhere. It’s really that simple

Sanderson gotta be injured.

You don't go from skating end to end every second shift to never in a course of a week.

Or maybe Hamonic really is that demoralizing.

In b4 someone else rips Sanderson for something he did last night. Hahaha. You lose, losers. Suck it. Woo!

Sanderson was so good last night outside of his mistake. He actually said in his post-game interview he gets more into the game when you get a bunch of PPs and it helps him. Nice to see him have a big game, it makes us a lot more dangerous offensively.

He was moving a bit better than in previous games. Making some slick passes on the PP and breakouts as well.

Almost blew it in the end, but ya, he was terrific last night. Team needs that if they're going to win games.

It's a good step. He needs to be that player consistently.

Mistakes will happen when you have the puck a lot. The leaders in the GA category are always the leagues top players, but he needs to tighten things up.

First good game in a long time. The team is going to need more of that if they have any hope of winning games

He was finally getting pucks on the net and towards the net and thats when good things happen.
He needs to up his shots on net totals every game.
He currently averages 2 shots a game. If he can get that upto 4 or 5 shots a game on goal that will create more offense.
I would like to see him roam around in the offensive zone the way Makar does. Makar will skate from the point down below the face off dots. I would like to see more end to end rushes.
He has more than enough skating ability to do it.

If Sanderson is performing worst than last year, then that is a major concern. A true superstar should always be progressing year after year especially in their first couple of seasons.

This could be another classic case of us just overrating our young players like we always do

Or a classic case of an injury. The guy had a Travis Green-described maintenance day. He doesn't do that unless something is wrong.

I think we definitely overrated his offense.

Would like to see him with an offensive star I feel like that would be the best pair in the NHL

What injury does he have? Has the organization released any official information on this?

Because it seems that our players are either injured or bad, or both. In either case, they are not playing good

It's interesting, he's on pace for 55 pts, and only 8 of that is at ES.

Last year, he had 24 ES points, which based on the underlying numbers didn't seem unsustainable.

I don't think anybody was expecting him to put up a pt per game or anything, if you asked people how many pts he'd get this year, you'd probably have gotten a lot of people suggesting around 55 pts.

I am not concerned about his offense. He is a defenseman and I want him to be extremely effective in his own end with getting opponents off the puck, take aways and moving the puck out our zone effectively.

I haven't watch much hockey this year, but hearing everyone saying that he is struggling and is worst than last year, is cause for concerns.

Okay I overestimated his offensive game then. I thought he would be much more dynamic at even strength. With the puck and without. But does lot seem to be coming

Our maintenance days are most likely for players nursing injuries. Pinto had a maintenance day then was announced as week-to-week a couple days later. Sanderson's play declines and suddenly gets a maintenance day at practice.
