They have an uncanny ability to get a first for their bums.
Barclay Goodrow who is garbage compared to Evans got a 1st.No shot
Evans is not a bum. He is a fantastic 3rd line center in a Cup aspiring team. They have an uncanny ability to get a first for their bums.
Evans may get a first but with this being a career year for him the team that pays that amount is likely to have buyers remorse as soon as next season when they have to pay him 3 to 3.5 million a year long term. If he can maintain his production going forward it's a great deal but if he can't it becomes a pretty bad acquisition. It's the exact reason Montreal may be willing to trade him to begin with.Ya keep adding.
You're overrating what $3 mil can get and underrating Evans. He's a guaranteed 30 pt #3C that PKs and is defensively responsible.Evans may get a first but with this being a career year for him the team that pays that amount is likely to have buyers remorse as soon as next season when they have to pay him 3 to 3.5 million a year long term. When in your opinion does the deal become prohibitive ? 3.5 mill, 4 million ?You're overrating what $3 mil can get and underrating Evans. He's a guaranteed 30 pt #3C that PKs and is defensively responsible.
If Evans was willing to sign a $3 mil deal i'd instantly trade a 1st for him. He's one of the better bottom 6 centers out there and in his prime.
Depends the opportunity you give him. If you sign him at 4 mil and give him an opportunity like Compher got (who got overpaid with a 5 x 5 mil) you'd be fine with it.When in your opinion does the deal become prohibitive ? 3.5 mill, 4 million ?
Fair enough, I also agree anything over 3.5 million on a long term deal for a contender is to much. He'd be a nice veteran presence though on a rebuilding team even at 4 mill. I still think paying a first or even a first plus and then an extension at 3.5 mill is a bridge to far though and I think Evans is an excellent player.Depends the opportunity you give him. I personally wouldn't go higher than $3.5 mil on a contender, but if I was a rebuilding/retooling team with cap to spare I could see him being fine value even at $4.5 mil.
Agree with this. I'll happily trade Devils 1st if they can re-sign Evans to a long term deal at a cap hit no more than $3.5m per season. If Evans wants to test the market, then I only offer a 2nd and a 3rd for a rental. You're overrating what $3 mil can get and underrating Evans. How do you know that? Cap more of an issue back then. Habs have tons caproom now.Evans is as good as gone unfortunately.
If this management didn't want to give Lehkonen 4 million + doubt they want to give Evans that money... unless they learned from their mistake.
Evans is having a hell of a season so far, but no way that shooting % will hold.
Lehkonen was an RFA.Ask Colorado fans if they would give a 1st for Lehkonen.
1st rounders are so overvalued in here it's ridiculous.

Might get dragged for this but if I’m the Habs I send Newhook off before Evans
Lol. “Let that sink in”. Ok, I did. He’s shooting 31% (career 8% before this year) with a 14% on ice shooting percentage (never higher than 8% before this year). At 5v5 you have 0 center more productive per minute played this year. Let that sink in.
Also happens to be the most used forward on the PK in the NHL with great results.
I could bet a fat amount that if he’s traded he gets a first.
Can only do one like thatThey should trade Savard and Dvorak each at 50% retained.
savard. dvorak is a bum and even at 50% off he wont get much of a returnThey should trade Savard and Dvorak each at 50% retained.
lots of salary coming off this books this offseason to go with cap increase.Habs should move salary so Evans would be on that list for picks
Of course, but they have different values right now.Might get dragged for this but if I’m the Habs I send Newhook off before Evans
