What say you?
If you can get him under contract for 4-5 years. It's worth exploring.
If he demands 6/7/8 years. See Ya.

He's definitely the #2RW right now. If the Bruins move him, I think it has to be in a package deal for a young center. If they can't get that, I think you have to keep him.So is he part of the core and getting a big long term contract or is he trade bait this summer?
The pros:
- He is a very good 5 on 5 goal scorer. This year he had as many or more than Horvat, Krieder, Kaprizov, Buchnevich, and Leo Draisaitl. He only played 64 games to do that. If you want to go back to the magical 1/1/2022 date when he moved up to the top 6, he is 21st in the NHL in 5 on 5 goals. Tied or better than Kaprizov, Meier, Connor, Bratt, Ovechkin, Guentzel, Stamkos, Aho, Eichel, Kucherov... you get the idea. This guys is a legit 1st line 5 on 5 goal scorer.
- A happy DeBrusk is infectious. Like Pasta. Joy of playing is good to have in the locker room.
- He is the same guy in the playoffs
The cons:
- His dark times are obviously still worrisome.
- His playmaking numbers are not very good.
- His PP numbers are not very good.
- Despite the production his TOI numbers are suuuuper low compared to the other guys that can put up goals like he can.
Questions...
Should Jake DeBrusk be getting more TOI?
Should Jake DeBrusk be put in a better position on the PP than net front guy?
What kind of contract would you give DeBrusk?
What kind of package would you want for DeBrusk?
Part of me thinks that you sign him to an extension and then give him more minutes and better PP minutes and have everyone wonder why DeBrusk broke at at 27.
The other part of me wonders if you are better off selling him for futures to someone else who thinks they could do that with him.

DeBrusk 37 goals last 82 regular season games
Also played last 5 months with fractured or broken bones in feet - I know it’s nothing for tough guys like me and 20% here but still impressive
Dude is a heck of a player - legit top 6 winger smart enough to play off wing
Sweens should go 6/42 and see if that works
Kucherov is a HOF and one of this generation’s greatest wingersthats a fortune for a barely one time 50 point player. Kucherov put up 30 goals but will get you over 110 points
I would be very surprised if Debrusk didn’t get 6+ million.Kucherov is a HOF and one of this generation’s greatest wingers
I have favorite lines of opponents going back to Hadfield -Ratelle - Gilbert but I’ve seen very few as
Kucherov- Point- Palat
Two of three should end up HOF but Palat was so underrated
DeBrusk is more like Palat - maybe more skilled
DeBrusk getting 6+ not unreasonable at all
37 goals last 82 games
Would have game winner SHG in game 6 if Cliffy didn’t forget to play defense (sad I love Clifton)
I think this year is the litmus test, especially if Patrice doesn't come back. Does he continue to be the player he has been since they put him on the top line? or does he revert back to the beer league floater? I'm hoping for the former. Then 6 mill would be nice.I would be very surprised if Debrusk didn’t get 6+ million.

This was a well researched post.Sweeney probably will keep his only hit from that draft
For me the bigger question is will Jake want to remain a BruinSweeney probably will keep his only hit from that draft
True, I wouldn't overpay for him just to keep him here that's for sure. For me the bigger question is will Jake want to remain a Bruin
Anyone have the breakdown of his linemates by minutes player this past season?
I think he slots/slotted next to 37 and 63 nicely. The best regular linemate they’ve had not named Pasta in a decade. He was red hot before he got injured (scoring 2 goals on his freshly broken foot), took him a while to get going but thought it was his most consistent season yet.5v5:
Marchand 501 mins
Bergeron 499 mins
Zacha 117 mins
Coyle 84 mins
Hall 84 mins
Krejci 72 mins
Nosek 34 mins
Pasta 33 mins
So spent the vast majority of his time with Bergy and Marchand, and a smattering with the rest. Almost all his time in the top 6.
I agree and very much am a fan of DeBrusk . I hope Management has some idea of where they stand with him resigning with the Bruins. If it looks like he is going to walk after this year you trade him in other words I am wondering if the two sides have had any discussions . On a new contractTrue, I wouldn't overpay for him just to keep him here that's for sure.
I think you're looking at 7-7.5 mil depending on what kind of season he has. Unless you lock him up for 7-8 years I can't see him getting 6.5 mil or less.If Jake can get 6.5+ for 4 or more he’s a goner.

Debrusk was never a beer league floater. He had some serious on and off ice mental issues but those like like they are far in the rear view.
I would say the more likely scenario is he pots 30-40 and we are having to overpay a year from now.
