Swayman won it last year. Rask has won it, Thomas won it twice and Raycroft won it as well. Crazy enough from 2003-2007 a goalie won every year. Interestingly enough 25% of the previous winners over the last 20 years were goalies.
Wow f me then lol. I have zero recollection of any of that. No joke

I didn't realize the stretch of goalies winning it, but I knew Swayman, Rask & Thomas had all won it at some point. Its odd because it has seem the award has morphed from an team MVP award to best young player to who was better than everyone thought they'd be lol.

Honestly, this year has a lot of legit contenders for this award. In no particular order, these are the guys I think have a chance.
Ullmark - honestly, he was the 1B last year, but not many expected the numbers he's put up
Debrusk - Going from a guy that wanted out to a core complementary guy on this roster, he's been clutch so far
Lindholm - With McAvoy out, he established himself as an offensive threat, he's been great. Of this list, probably least of the surprise though.
Foligno - After being waived and an extreme subpar season last year, he's bounced back and been an integral part of the lockeroom. Of the waived warriors, he's the only one who really earned his way onto the roster.
Clifton - Probably earned himself a payraise, due to our cap situation, unfortunately, don't think it will be here, but he's probably one of the best value-defensive contracts right now.

remember when bruins fans wanted to trade him away when he was still under 25 and putting up 20g seasons?

Is it Foligno or is it Ullmark? I won't believe anyone who says they expected anything like this out of either. It'll be a fun race for it. An interesting one for sure....
I guess I've never considered the 7th man award as something that should be given to a 1st line player or starting goalie. That's why Foligno is a no-brainer to me. Ullmark for sure is the team MVP so far. I will be happy for whoever gets the award. So many players doing great this season.

I stopped reading once Lindholm was mentioned. Lindholm has always been elite. Just go read how the ducks fans felt about him. We don’t actually get to watch the ducks often. Watching stats on a defender doesn’t provide enough information to evaluate the talent. His play with the puck along the boards is elite. His gap control is elite. His vision is elite. He is a good skater. He is really strong and big. This player is a top pairing D on basically all the teams in the league.

Ullmark for me . He’s pulling a Tim Thomas so far . Hope he can do it in the playoffs.

I wonder if that coincided with his trade request during a stretch of what could be called sub par play at best.

Can't imagine why fans would throw out trade proposals when a player asks to be traded.

He’ll be back, hopefully with fresh legs. He will also be missed. Kids been dynamic using his speed as a weapon this year, not only to create chances but to draw penalties

Feel like things had been going to smoothly the last couple months, a little adversity won’t be bad for them

Gotta assume it was on the blocked shot by Malkin very late in the game right?
