I asked 7x7 a few pages back, because all signs point to that being the price.

If you're ok with him at 6.25M, we aren't going to freak out for 775K. With normal league growth you'd expect a 20g guy to make 7M in 2027 for example.

I think we all better get real comfortable over the 7M range, and the longer the term probably the better the value for the team later.

I've got him at 6.5 x 7 if they go long term. 7 might be too high but it's a minor amount in the grand scheme of things cap wise.

He isn't going to make more than Marchand or even Coyle, that's for sure.
He has never played a full season of 82 games, he has a past history of mental health issues regardless, if he is past it or not.
Sure he has been rounding out his game this season.
If he wants more than stated above, trade him, sure it's easier said the done.
This is just my opinion, laugh all you want, I really don't care.

Respectfully, Marchand's contract is ANCIENT. You just can't use it. Remember what Bergeron and Krejci made later on? Plenty of lesser guys made more than them.

Same goes for Coyle. Coyle is a 8M+ player now. But his deal is old.

The Bruins need a top 6F right now. I don't think it would be wise to let DeBrusk go, and I don't think he will return, in a package, anything better either.

...trade an extended JDB for Hertl. JDB would excel in a no-pressure, non-hockey-market.
I was able to catch the Rangers - Sharks game and although it was only 1 game, Hertl didn't impress me that much. He didn't really seem too proactive as is expected of a center. He has a great shot and scored the game winning goal, but he looked more like a winger to me which is a little disappointing against a team like the Rangers. I think Couture looked better in that game.

Owen Tippett just got 8 years, 6.2m per year. Younger than Jake and just broke out last year, but pretty similar production. 20-30 goals, ~50 points.

But he's trending up, not years of stagnation.

I wouldnt go above $5.5 for Debrusk. He's a tease who shows you a glimpse of his potential followed by 20 games of floating.

He plays well in all three zones. I’m a big fan of his game it stands. He has really learned to use his speed. I wouldn’t complain about 6. 5.5 would be even better :p

I wouldn’t really call 20-30 goals and 45-50 points per year, while playing in all situations stagnation. He’s 27, I think that’s what he is. Not everyone has to be Pastrnak.

He’s absolutely streaky and misses a lot of time with injuries, but I think we’d notice his absence pretty quickly.

I guess that depends on what you did with that money..

His production the last 2.5 seasons is similar to Rickard Rakell. Rakell signed a 6yr/$5 million deal when he was 29yrs old (few years older than DeBrusk), but he's not nearly as good of a defensive player as DeBrusk.

If you assume the same CH% as Rakell at $74.5 million cap, then it puts DeBrusk at 6yr/$5.3 million.

Again though, DeBrusk is a better defensive player, so how much is that worth? I'd be fine with DeBrusk coming in at around $6 to $6.5 million a year.

If he wanted 6 mil would you let him walk over 500k?

It was a year ago they gave Zacha 4yr x $4.75M.

$6M/yr is more than fair for DeBrusk. If anything I actually think that would be too high. Above that and pushing to $7M would be outrageous.

Has anyone pondered the notion that 6M being fair and 7M being outrageous is....a broken way of thinking?

Guys the 1M cannot be that big a mistake over that duration in an escalating cap environment. Seeing people bend themselves into pretzels for 750k to 1M, I don't get it.

There's much bigger cap mistakes out there.
