I’ll push back and say that DeBrusk is a top 6 player that requires a real playmaking center to be useful. Most wingers in the game require that.

I’ll also say that Coyle is a great individual player, but he and DeBrusk do not have the chemistry for DeBrusk to be a 60 point guy.

DeBrusk has always seen his point totals drop playing alongside Coyle.

IDK if this is a Coyle issue or a DeBrusk issue or both.

Coyle is having a great season, but you do not want him to be your top six center while truly contending for a cup.

Debrusk is, and always has been, a coat tail player. Why he gets a pass from so many here is absurd. Guy is literally invisible most nights. Trade him before you can’t.

I'm ready to cut ties at this point. Decent player but not somebody that can be consistently relied on for offense. His highs have been great but I'd sell him at the deadline and hope someone wants to take a chance on him. He could maybe snag a late 1st from a playoff contender looking to add some depth, especially if we retain 50%. $2 mil for a guy who just put up 27 goals last year is a decent deal.

How is Jake doing on the PK? If he's not contributing there, he should sit for a couple games and see what Lysell or Merkulov can come up with.
Please get off the Lysell, Merkulov train, neither of them is ready for heavy duty NHL play, Poitras will be back and he is under size that is enough for this year. Everyone that wants to see those two play, should take a trip to Providence..........

Merkulov looked almost ready at training camp and has been picking up his play lately. He's doing what the coaching staff asked of him to do, he's playing a complete two-way game, and he scored 8G-6A in the last 7 games. He looks ready. Lysell will definitely need more time if he's not traded.

I don't follow the AHL closely, but I did see the 14 points in 7 games stat for Merkulov, which to me warrants a game or two if it's logistically feasible. Lysell, just kind of threw the name out there. I'm not on any "train." Just want to see this team do better.

Merkulov would be an adventure, but if things spiral, I would like to see what he has up here.

Debrusk has 4 goals this year and most nights looks uninterested. Merkulov may not be the long term answer but Debrusk needs accountability. He has the ability to be better and when it goes this long there usually is more to the issue.

I've said this before about him as well as others. He plays good when the team is winning but when they aren't winning he follows suit instead of standing up leadership wise.

Yeah, something’s going on with this kid. He’s shown more enthusiasm in interviews, than he has on the ice lately. What we seen tonight is something I’d expect out of him in a celebrity shinny game. Just seems like fake effort, trying to get away with one and not a whole lot of will or want. Cannot create his own offense at all, and you’d think he’d be valuable 3 on 3 with his speed, but he’s just not strong on the puck and doesn’t bear down when it comes to 1 v 1 battles. I understand he’s never going to throw a hit, unless it’s a late love tap, connecting with more of the boards but at least be strong on your stick. His best value might be in the shootout right now and I’m not sure how many more times he can get away with that flip shot floater against the grain. His last 5 hole attempt was weak …. Would’ve liked to see that elevated if it’s a straight shot. Have to make a move to open up the goaltenders legs if you’re going to slide it on the ice, unless you’re a glorified sniper in which he’s not.

He will be traded before that. I am just guessing where he goes in free agency. (I doubt he does everyone a favor and does a sign and trade.)
The Flames would be ideal, in a deal involving lindholm and Tanev the sooner the better. All pending UFA giving their new teams plenty of time to re-up them.
