One player I know the Rangers would like is Brady Cleveland. Second round pick last year. Rangers didn't have the draft capital to get him, but Muse is a huge fan. I wonder if Cleveland could be the throw-in for the Trouba trade similar to Emberson in the Nemeth deal.

I think Jones is definitely in next season. All signs point to him getting a look.

I'd bring in Jones, move out Trouba, and try to get Lindgren back for cheap.

I then have

Fox
Miller
Schneider
Lindgren
Jones

I make a move for a high end D, like Theodore or Chychrun or someone unforeseen, but better than Roy.

Get a cheap vet for 7D. Good to go.
I like those guys but I fear opposing forwards are going to love that lineup. They will feel they are playing in a no contact league in front of Shesty.

It’s logical that Trouba will be dealt. He’s nearing the end of his deal and Schneider has passed him on the depth chart…
Trouba s subpar playoff performance where he was the most penalized player seems to have cemented this move.
IMO, it was possible they keep him for 1 more season, but if they can find a taker now, why wait?
Trochek should stroll into the vacancy at captain.
You don’t want to pay a 3rd pair D 8 mill cap hit if you don’t have to.
I think Trouba gets some unfair hate on here. Not that he’s a stalwart by any means, but he is a leader, he’s tough, he’s a throwback open ice hitter, ( but being a step slower means he’s usually out of position).
On most teams he’ll serve as a fine middle pair player that they’ll be happy to have only paying 6mill real $$ for on a short term 2-yr deal.
The wings make a ton of sense. They are green, this is where Trouba s leadership should add a lot of value.
Being close to fam/friends should also be good for him.
I’m not happy hell be lining up trying to catch our guys with their heads down.
But it’s time to move on and free up that cap to make the team better

I am concerned how soft our Dmen are as a group especially in front of our net.

Hey guys there's a rumor he might be on his way to Detroit? Is he really that bad?
He’s big, slow but extremely physical (sometimes outright dirty) and blocks shots. Also a great leader. Just, as someone else pointed out, not worth his contract. He’s a 3RD PK specialist worth maybe 3MM, max, after adding a leadership premium. Wouldn’t sign him for more than $2MM otherwise.

We need a RD shot blocker and PK specialist. Is that Zadorov? What would he cost?

Isnt he a left handed D?
Sorry, I meant the RD PK part, but if he’s left handed (my mistake if so), I suppose the conversation is moot.

At that point, you wonder if we should try to get Stammer and Kane, and go all offense, and hope the Cats get eliminated by the time we face them.

if he wants to stay here so bad why doesn't he captain this team to a stanley cup? This is a man using every trick in the book to stay where he is, so does he continue sulking or is he so pissed off at Drury and all the noise that he actually improves himself and puts forth the effort this upcoming season? Am I being hopelessly optimistic here?

It was never a lack of effort with him. He's just a $3.5M player with an $8M cap hit. No amount of effort on his part will bridge that gap.

Tampa Bay put a gun to McDonagh's head last year to accept a trade, they just let their franchise icon walk in free agency. Vegas barely tried to keep JAM who won a Conn Smythe and helped build the org from the ground up. All these guys have Cups and these are just recent examples.

But Trouba is special because his wife is a doctor? Please, thats what the money he's been stealing from the rangers for years is for. This guy has played hardball with every negotiation he's ever been apart of, including with us when we had to wildly overpay so he didnt walk to free agency despite "wanting to be here". I think Drury and Dolan should play hardball right back. A buyout is too risky for when we need the money next year. Take the C away, and bury him on the 3rd pair. His play can earn his standing back.

Potvin sucks should be changed to Trouba sucks. I can’t wait until he is off this team, he is a liability.

Effort is not Trouba's issue.

A captain can't make a team better than they are.

Soft wasn't the issue in the playoffs. The issue was 100% being unable to carry the puck out of the defensive zone.

Him basically putting out there he isn’t going to report to the team he’s traded to because of his wife? He absolutely has the obligation to report. But now teams are afraid to even making a trade to avoid that type of drama shit he’ll potentially bring.

Guy is a world class loser. He could have sucked it up for a year while making his 8M.

Basically? You’re just making stuff up. There is no evidence out there that Trouba wouldn’t report. He would be extremely disgruntled and it makes perfect sense that teams don’t want to play a part in upending his family’s life at a moment like this, especially since he’s not an impactful player. You are creating a narrative that justifies your frustration but that narrative is based on a very unlikely assumption.

He's not making up a narrative. Read the Brooks article, it's pretty difficult to come to any other conclusion.
