The quietest Geordie Howe Hat Trick ever. Dude is seriously playing great right now. Please no one put this on the main board as it would be a major health concern for the haters to acknowledge this.

It doesn't matter what Trouba does, the haters aren't going to change. They have their narrative and are sticking to it. He could win the Norris and the Con Smythe and they'd still say he sucks and is overpaid.

This is the guy we thought we were getting 2 years ago. He's been great.

I can't say I followed him that closely in WIN, but is this the best he's played in his career?

I would say this is how he played his last season in Winnipeg. He was aggressive and adding to the offense with regularity. He's a guy who logs BIG minutes against the other teams best players so there are going to be times when things don't go perfectly, but he was a legitimate 1B his last year in Winnipeg. That's what the Rangers were signing and trading for.

He's definitely taken his play to another level. This is the best Jacob Trouba has ever played

As it goes... Defensemen usually peak later.... WTF does Foxy look like at 27?

just got this of the internet

"Our best estimate of the scoring peak age is between 27 and 28 for forwards and between 28 and 29 for defencemen. Both forwards and defencemen exhibit near-peak performance over a wide range, going from about 24 to 32 and 24 to 34, respectively." is Trouba just entering his peak then?! :D its an old study, but trouba also plays old-school

Anybody else a little concerned that last night's inadvertent knockout might quiet Trouba's game down a bit? He seems like an awfully decent sort and I'm a little worried he's going to take this too much to heart. I have unpleasant visions of a similar impact to where Kreider's physical game went after the Carey Price incident.

Hope not. This guy is just killing it in every facet.

I was worried about that looking at his face on the bench. But he had 3 more hits after that and he didn't pull a Corey Perry and hold on during the fight, so I'm not concerned.

If the cap kept going up, Trouba would be underpaid

Wow do I love that he’s making me eat crow

His physicality, size, and shot are great, but his outlet passes and hockey sense are underrated

Surely he'll be on Team USA then. Underpaid 8 million dollar players don't get left off Team USA.

We bought what? 7 UFA years? He’s making a lot less than Seth Jones and Erik Karlsson. He’s definitely a top pairing defenseman. Yea guys like MacAvoy and Fox are better, but Trouba is still extremely valuable. Right now he’s about properly paid but if the cap went up as expected before covid, I would say he would be arguably underpaid. Don’t know if he makes it but we’ll see.

His contract covered 1 RFA year and 6 UFA years.

Yeah, I think as you do... now. I missed much of the game last night and just finished watching the encore. Very encouraging response on his part.

RE: the hit

I still see shoulder on shoulder/chest :dunno:

The sheer violence Jango. No one is thinking of the children.
OK. From your reaction I thought that the common sentiment out there was that 8 million dollar Mayfield made the head the principal point of contact.
