He hasn't been playing to his former Jet level, but he hasn't been THAT bad thus far.

Like most of the team he has a new linemate or partner he is still getting used to, which is part of the problem. There is literally no semblance of certainty.

Let's not forget that his partner, as well as he is playing - still has a grand total of 6 NHL games under his belt. The very fact he has a rookie next to him is part of the issue. That is definitely a factor whether fans want to acknowledge it or not.

Trouba had an adjustment period in his first year. He looked better in the bubble. It's still early though I understand the frustrations given his contract, for sure.

The expectations for almost all of the high paid vets are not being met right now, not to mention he is part of the leadership group now - so yes the blame needs to be spread around.

I feel like most of the time Trouba would play a lot better if he dialed it back just a bit...cool it a bit on the pinches and step ups, on the attempted shots, etc. I think he's played pretty well and if he and Miller can stick together they'll be a quite good pair that's hard to play against for other teams.

He's been decent this year and I'm not currently one to bemoan the contract, so whatever.

Anyone else get Rick'd listening to 690's Friday Scrum and they go around the teams throughout the country and just heap praise on Pionk? Butt tilting. So bitter.

He got the "Rangers disease"....in other words....drink beers and F*** models all night long. We have seen that happen to so many players. That´s the negative beeing in Rangers. NY never sleeps. And so does not the players all cocked up and f*** models.

What this team needs is another Messier leader. Stat....and don´t think it´s going to be Zibby since he seems to be confused wehter to be a DJ or play Hockey.

Ultimate scrabble face post. I respect it. Maybe Zibby should go Messier up top for some inspiration.

Maybe you should write a post that a NON american can read...WTF does "Scrabble face post" mean? Do you live in a world where you think every hockey fan can understand North American slang?

Maybe i should just write my own language and just presume everyone will understand it...like:
Jag bryr mig bara om mig själv

The PK sequence posted above was really bad, but the amount of hate this guy gets is stupid.

Ok he's getting #1 money and Pionk is picking up a few points in Winnipeg by virtue of having a pulse (he still can't defend AT all) but honestly, who really gives AF? If Trouba is our 3rd or 4th best defenseman, our D is looking pretty good.

Some people don't want to hear it, but you cannot win with a defense filled with puck moving smurfs. I imagine that will be what hinders a team like Colorado from taking the next step (until they fix it) and I'm glad we actually got ahead of it already.

A scrabble face is the look on your face when you are playing the game Scrabble and you flip over your tiles and you have a bunch of Qs, Ys and Zeds.

Do I need to explain what going Messier up top means?

Trouba was excellent last night with his 2nd period being his best period. Need more games like that and I am not concerned that we will get those games.

I’m still holding out hope that once this team is [hopefully] battling in the playoffs again, we’ll all be grateful for Trouba.

But other than that...I wouldn’t say he sucks, but I would say he’s worth probably half of his cap hit, lol.
Spot on. Maybe the Coyotes will hire me.

Its so hard to look at it this way.

1) Its based off such a small sample size

2) Not every time offers contract terms based off of advanced stats. And really even if teams did, you would still have teams driving up the price in a given year’s market.

3) The contract was signed almost 2 years ago before a pandemic that would force a flat cap for the next 3 years. 3 years that we had hoped the cap would go up and the AAV value against the entire cap would go down.

When trouba is good he is quiet and not very noticeable besides a huge hit or blast from the point. When he makes a mistake like on the Hughes goal the other night it is very noticeable and that’s when the haters come out of the woodwork. He is a perfectly capable 1B D-Man. What is that? He’s not a Hedman or pronger that can carry a pair. He needs a mobile smart partner to lean on at times. As he’s shown in the past with the jets and playing with Lindgren and more recently with miller, when he has that he is perfectly fine logging heavy minutes against the best other teams offer. He is big, mobile, moves the puck well, and protects the front of the net. He also has a nasty side that sometimes gets him in trouble. I’m fine with him being quiet and doing his job even if he doesn’t rack up goals and assists. It also takes the pressure off the Fox pair and the rest of the defense. I predict him and miller will get better as the season goes on just like how he was with Morrissey

1) what team on the planet could not use Messier?
2) A slower start to a season, one which began with ZBad having COVID and we are back to his head not being in hockey? Wow.

If you were an arbiter and Trouba's number was 8M and the team's number was 1M, which would you side with?

I didn't think about it til today how badly I need Pionk to be on Team USA and for Trouba to be "snubbed".

Trouba's not sniffing that team USA depth chart. Fox should though, although its quite competitive.
I know. That's why I put snubbed in quotes. But I need Pionk to make it.

Edit: this whole thing entered my brain cause someone on twitter was projecting it but I just realized he left out Seth Jones and Werenski and probably others. Now I'm depressed. Pionk is a huge longshot, but definitely more likely.

I don’t know if the stats bear this out, but I’m seeing a much improved Jacob Trouba so far this year. His shot selection still leaves a lot to be desired but he’s been effective in every other area of the game.

He’s also stepped up as a big time leader apparently as we are learning over the past few days.
