He hasn't been playing to his former Jet level, but he hasn't been THAT bad thus far.
Like most of the team he has a new linemate or partner he is still getting used to, which is part of the problem. There is literally no semblance of certainty.
Let's not forget that his partner, as well as he is playing - still has a grand total of 6 NHL games under his belt. The very fact he has a rookie next to him is part of the issue. That is definitely a factor whether fans want to acknowledge it or not.
Trouba had an adjustment period in his first year. He looked better in the bubble. It's still early though I understand the frustrations given his contract, for sure.
The expectations for almost all of the high paid vets are not being met right now, not to mention he is part of the leadership group now - so yes the blame needs to be spread around.
I feel like most of the time Trouba would play a lot better if he dialed it back just a bit...cool it a bit on the pinches and step ups, on the attempted shots, etc. I think he's played pretty well and if he and Miller can stick together they'll be a quite good pair that's hard to play against for other teams.
He's been decent this year and I'm not currently one to bemoan the contract, so whatever.
