In a trade Rangers can get an assett or 2 back and hold 50% of Trouba's salary through next season.

If it's waivers, Trouba will be claimed and Rangers get nothing but will get full relief of his contract.

I wonder if he gets claimed only to get traded later.

I can't see him wanting to go to Montreal or Columbus or Utah for example.

I'm in the minorty I'd like to have him but not at 8 million.

I'd take him at 4 million though especially if we could send a little money back.

I feel like the full $8million cleared would be more attractive to the rangers. Depending on the asset with 50% of course.

Jackets fan who hasn't watched a minute of Trouba. Could this be something where New York is paying the Jackets to offload cap (i.e. pick) or does Trouba still have miles on his tires and could improve out of what seems to be a toxic situation from the outside?
Trouba is bad. He can’t defend.

His reputation as a d man always exceeded his actual ability.

There's no way any team should even be considering trading for Trouba. Terrible defensively, non-existent offense game, and a dirtbag headhunter cheap shot artist. I can't think of a single reason why a team would want him.

Is he actually bad, or just overpaid?

If he was a random player with no contract, what would he be be worth?

5 million? Who would be a legit comparable for him?

Parayko/cernak/roy?
Rangers are currently a disaster. It's easy to point fingers at him because he shouldn't be getting 20+ minutes and makes too much money. Our fan base is excited about Mancini taking his place, but Mancini would get eaten alive by our fan base if he made half of what Trouba makes. (That's obviously not the case and he's still young with potential to grow), but my point is that Trouba would absolutely find a home and be offered a contract if he was a UFA. How much? I guess it depends on how stupid the GM is. My guess is somewhere around 5.5.

As Pro Trade Gallagher as I've been in the past? No way I'm risking this locker room chemistry with Trouba.
I’m just spitballing. Idk if I would do it. But it would allow us to move Savard and have someone hold the right side down for a year.

What are you even talking about? He was beyond attrocious for the Rangers is the past playoff run.

Playing on a broken ankle. It has been brought up before in the offseason but not a lot of guys are playing through what Trouba was in the playoffs last year.

Curious how this shakes out, feel for the guy. Had a chance to go back to the Detroit area this summer, looks like he has less control now.

In this day and age where every piece of data is available for anyone, Jacob Trouba got paid 8 million because of a few big hits.
