So not only is elbowing a torso (or anywhere else) not legal, but the Elbowing penalty itself accounts for “attempts to elbow”.

I'm always impressed at the things that seem obvious when I'm watching the game with family over the long weekend, and then I check in the next day and holy shit two dozen people are defending this as either legal or whabouting it.

My favorite so far was "There's no defending this hit. However...(followed by a paragraph of defending the hit)".

The only explanation I can think of is that Trouba's defenders are wearing special corrective lenses that eliminate elbow glare.
