Jack Eichel is quietly becoming a top-5 player in the league

Eichel should be the MVP frontunner after last night.
Not to take anything away from the Flyers, but they honestly looked like they were running plays at practice. The Sabres are a husk without Eichel, which goes to show how weak they are mentally and their utter lack of depth.

Felt he out Kopitar'd Kopitar today. His d-zone game has grown so much.
That and he is only 23 how much more can his game grow, he's slowly reaching his pre-draft status as a top 3 player. He's shown flashes of selke caliber play and he's always been an offensive dynamo but has been getting better with shooting through traffic and stickhandling in tight spaces the crazy thing is he has the ability to improve upon those things and maybe add another element or two to his game.

I think this might actually be the near the peak for Eichel offensively he's just a machine if anything the only part that can noticeably improve much is his defensive game especially face-offs.

I think offensively he could get shiftier and his explosiveness can get better in small/tight areas i don't know if he keeps up his current pace or not but either way i think he ends up being a consistent top 5 point producer and possibly even top 10 goal scorer some years (maybe even top 5 at the end of this year)

Big time. Crazy how much some of these young guys have improved their defensive game, while also taking a step forward offensively.

Some other young players seem to have stagnated offensively, while also not being as engaged defensively as they were in their rookie seasons.

This is the main reason why Eichel is without debate the top young American Centerman in the game now

I was at the game today, and thankfully Eichel played. It was my first time seeing him in person. He's such an amazing player, and you can tell he's truly committed to playing a 200 ft game this year. His only point was a secondary assist on an ENG, but it was a well-deserved point nonetheless. He also had or set up several grade-A scoring chances that just missed. If he goes down, we're :help:ed.

Him and Ollie hit the post this game as well. Hopefully it doesn't become a trend like it was in November.

So Eichel trails by 10 pts with 3 less games played and with next best scoring teammate having 17 pts less than him while Mcdavid has the linemate with basically the same stat line. Hart is prertty much on the horizon for Eichel. Jack has to keep up the same pace though.

Seen a few games with Buffalo. Other than Eichel sometimes sometimes get a little overconfident, and make a too risky play, he have looked dominant.

Turns out, no one wins in that draft. Both Eichel and McDavid still not winning, 5 years in. Shame to see 5 of their best years wasted with only a single playoff experience between the two of them.

Edmonton, Toronto, Buffalo are all very similar.

Main difference is Mcdavid, unlike all the leafs lottery picks, has shown the ability to win a playoff series.

Eichel also has that ability, he just hasn’t had the opportunity. But like you said, the leafs are the biggest disappointment considering the playoff failures while their young players were on ELC’s and are now all on overpriced contracts handicapping their cap situation.

Leafs don't have an Eichel/McDavid level player IMO, and they also have at least built a respectable core around their talent. Edmonton and Buffalo, 5 years later, are both still both 2 player teams, which is insane.

5 years of misery (4 for McDavid) and I would say neither organization is looking all too promising for the next 5, either.

Except not in the slightest.

Toronto since their stars entered: 10th in the league
Edmonton since their stars entered: 24th in the league
Buffalo since their stars entered: 31st in the league

I do find it hilarious how you're trying to twist making the playoffs in 3/3 years instead of 1/4 or 0/4 as some big knock against Toronto players. Also claiming that McDavid/Eichel are better playoff performers, even though McDavid was disappointing in his only playoff appearance, and Eichel has never even been in them.

Anything for the narrative.

As other leaf fans have already pointed out, yes, Edmonton is different due to actually having playoff success over the past couple years, while Toronto and buffalo have both not won a single playoff series. That’s the main difference between the 3 teams if you want to be picky.

Aves are the only team I'd consider taking over Sabres for next 5 years (make it 10).

Maybe Tampa if they wake up, though a smaller window.

It’s weird how leaf fans love to jump in to Jack Eichel threads and try to pump up their players and team
Actually, what happened here was you went in to an Eichel thread in order to post false, inflammatory statements about the Leafs and their players.
