Why ‘heart and soul’ Jack Eichel is building a case for MVP - Sportsnet.ca

Good read. Article does a good job describing some of the ways he’s grown, on the ice and as a leader.
the funniest part is the part where Eichel is quoted that Reinhart is making him look good...haven't seen Reinhart make Eichel look all that good much this season at least with Oloffsson you can say it makes for an easier assists when he scores from the outside but Reinhart really hasn't done all that much this season and has probably only scored once from anywhere not in front of the net he has to start beating goalies and he has had plenty of chances.

Taylor Hall missed three games in the middle of his 26 game streak. It continued when he returned.

It doesn't look like it did. Hall only has a 19 game point streak on NHL.com records page

Watching buffalo tonight, just give Eichel the Hart right now. He’s more “valuable to his team” (Hart criteria) than anyone else I can think of

Matthews goes down with his yearly injury and the leafs go 13-6-1.

Eichel gets the flu and this is what buffalo looks like without him.

Eichel is incredible

Hell, I seriously doubt he's here following next season. The reality is he's going to force a trade. I mean think about it, 5 years, 5 years of your career completely wasted due to poor management, with no end in sight and not even serious attempts to fix it.
I don't see Jack here past next season, sorry, but Botterill or whoever is not fixing this by next year, it's that bad.

I thought there was going to be a trade coming to help out Jack and the team?

If your hot takes are anything like your trade predictions, then the Sabres have nothing to worry about.

This is how it as in the 90s with Hasek. Sabres were a beer league team then as well, except Dom was so dominant that he single handedly turned them into cup contenders

It sucks, on one hand the loss makes
Eichel look great but I’m really over that, now that he’s getting recognition and everything. I just want the team to do well and I can’t help but think about what he was thinking watching that.

Not to worry, ROR is a quality number #2/#1 center.....

Just for reference to show life isn’t that black and white, we finished 31st with Eichel and ror both on the team.

And when Eichel missed two months in his second season in the NHL (16-17) ROR got the chance to lead the team, and Eichel STILL outscored him that season even though jack was 19 and didn’t play a game until December. And the whole returning from a serious injury thing (the first Ever in his entire hockey career of any sort) which can be a difficult transition but the guy took his game to a point per game level the second he friend in that season to now. As for ROR don’t think I’m speaking badly I’m just pointing out it’s not all roses and I’ll explain why and at the same time mention I’m not justifying the trade it was awful but just bare with me ...I do bash myself and talk positive about him, just spreading some info first.

He kind of traded himself with his comments but it’s been nothing but gold for him ever since. It didn’t look like that at first three months in when buffalo was first in the nhl and RORs team was dead last, that had to be awful for him....but then it literally did a 180 on both ends. It’s funny how life works because they were headed for dead last but a goalie literally saved that team (and a new coach) ROR was leading them in scoring when they were dead last showing that this is a team game. I mean if one or both of those things didn’t happen does he even wins the selke if they don’t make the playoffs? He certainly doesent win the cup and conn smythe, that’s for sure. But those are just some facts before people talk about the heist of the century. Which is still sad but I mean be mindful of what happened too. The ROR in St. Louis wasn’t the ROR in buffalo, he was a motivated ROR on steroids.

But about the ROR deal and if the thought of having him right now and the trade being bad...

Of course it’s awful and makes it look terrible, me included. We don’t know what kind of defensemen Ryan Johnson will be but unless he wins the conn smythe it’s a awful trade. (LOL) i was trying to be optimistic as hell when he got traded and looked like a giant fool. He only wins the cup selke and smythe. I personally think stone and petriangelo easily could of won either but that’s really not a big deal. (Only because ROR wAs quiet the first three rounds of the playoffs and it’s for the whole playoffs not just the finals)

But yeah, we could use him right about how. I thought mittlestadt would emerge as a Sid number two but really every hockey analyst in the world did too, or at least a really solid number three. Hasn’t been the case..

Ps- if anyone wants to reply to this keep in mind I won’t be responding since I already admitted it made me look extremely foolish, I’m a bit hockey depressed (obviously this sort would never drive me to actual depression) but having this streak end due to the fly, the result of the game and having to discuss the ror deal in the same evening is making me want to watch the fireplace channel and pass out.

Eichel Routinely goes out of his way to make his teammates look and sound way better then they are. The season where we just finished 31st two years ago when he had a major shift in his maturity and play really, he said st the end of the season press conference that HE needs to be way better and all the blame is on him as he wasn’t good enough for the team.

I almost was believing him until he said that. There’s being humble and then there’s just flat out being ridiculous. He was in on like 45 percent of the goals that season and plays 24-25/60 a game. It was like the third highest production in the NHL that year.

“Yet he’s a bad leader.”

“Not captain worthy”

A narcssscist, a selfish cancer.”

“Selfish, overplayed diva.”

I guess I shouldn’t ever of payed attention to those comments when either Matthews or a leaf was in the act/comment or both o every single one of those statements from people here on HF.

Posted this in the Sabres' forum, but Christmas is for everyone. Here is the Sabres' version of Jingle Bells.

This team is starting to blow
Scoring less than Ray
Out of the playoffs we go,
Crying all the way
Hopes of a stanley cup ring,
crashing through the night
I rather die or cry and sing
Then to watch a sabres' game tonight

Oh, Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel all the way
Oh, how sad it is to grind
Jack Eichel to the bone today
Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel all the way
Oh, how sad it is to grind
Jack Eichel to the bone today

A year or two ago,
We thought our hopes had dried,
And soon Skinner smiling Bright
Was seated by his side;
Jack was lean and lank
Ristolainen played a lot
Housley sucked and stank,
But now he's an afterthought

Oh, Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel all the way
Oh, how sad it is to grind
Jack Eichel to the bone today
Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel all the way
Oh, how sad it is to grind
Jack Eichel to the bone today

Up to now the season was bright
Team was hungry and young
But with Jack out tonight
What else could go wrong
Just bring back Rob Ray
51 and lacks speed
But at least he can fight
And crack! this is what we need

Oh, Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel all the way
Oh, how sad it is to grind
Jack Eichel to the bone today
Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel
Jack Eichel all the way
Oh, how sad it is to grind
Jack Eichel to the bone today
