This is accurate. Fred is the only goalie to be a true #1 for us for an extended period since Cujo and definitely the best goalie since the Cujo/Eddie era.

I thought Fred was going to top this list as number one, but he lost his way and never found it.

Jack is off to a great start and climbing fast, but he has work to do.

In my totally subjective and personal memory it is:

Cujo
Felix
Fred
Ed
Jack
Reims

Ed was way better than Cujo.

I'd easily give him something between Driedger and Ullmark. I would say 4 to 4.5M for 3-4 years is pretty fair considering games plays and all that. It's also a slight bump over what Mrazek got.

I still hope they can maybe work something out to bring that closer to 3M if they add term... maybe...

Campbell probably making a bit more than 4 mil. He's already making 1.6 (so 2.4 mil more). Kerfoot makes 3.5. Get rid of Kerfoot (which Seattle would have kindly done for us if not the whole McCann insanity... but don't get me started) and that leaves 1.1 mil to replace invisible Kerfoot with.

It'll work I guess. As the Dangle guys are talking about, for the leafs it's no longer trying to get better. It's about trying to not get worse.

I think Jack signs a team friendly deal for a variety of reasons.

1. He clearly loves playing in Toronto. He as mentioned how appreciative he is of the fanbase, and the organization for giving him his shot as a starting goalie.

2. He is probably the most team first personality on the team from what we witnessed in the "All or Nothing" Doc.

3. It took Jack parts of 7 Professional seasons before he made his mark as a regular backup in the NHL. Including stints in the ECHL. Now that may seem normal for most goalies, but that's not the case for highly regarded goaltending prospects like Jack being that he was the 11OA pick in 2010. To say it was a struggle to get to the league would be pretty accurate. He served as the backup in LA for parts of 2 seasons before coming to Toronto, where we have given him every opportunity to fill his draft day pedigree. He is our undisputed 1A in my opinion, and has spent time as our starter even. You can tell he finally feels himself in the cage. I am not sure he'd want to change that for the chance of making an extra couple sheets elsewhere.

4. Lastly, Jack is a man of the people. He knows that by signing a larger deal, it will directly impact who stays on the team going forward and/or who they bring in. He obviously understands the business, but I also think he understands what it takes to have a solid team dynamic

I just can't imagine Jack taking us to the cleaners TBH. He wants to be a Leaf, and we want him to be a Leaf. Just like Mo. A deal will get done

He'll likely end up signing a deal that starts with a 3. If the team hits the cup finals on the back of goaltending that could maybe change I suppose.

This will be his first 82 game season playing as a 1A. It's going to keep the price down.

That seems premature.

At this point he's by far the teams most important UFA, management is going to want to have a reasonable idea of the type of cap they will need to have cleared by the time July rolls around. And in the meantime if his camp has a preference of getting a fair deal tidied up with, I'd say they should get it done.

yeah I use Driedger as the base/low end for a Campbell extension. 3x3.5M for someone with minimal experience but with great numbers (at the time of extension). Something around that I think would be very good. I'd give a slight bump to Campbell and maybe an extra year, I think you can justify 4x4M. Spending less than 8M on your combined goaltending seems pretty good.

I’d be more comfortable if they had a better read on him if they are extending him as a #1. If they are signing as a 1a, sure lock him up.

Not gunna lie I saw mrazek play on sat and I missed jack. Red lobster for everyone

I don't see how it could be anything other than as a 1A given the 3.8M to Mrazek.
