Credit to Campbell today. Not a great game but he made 2 game saving stops late and thats would you need. Just don't allow the goals that end the game.
Just needs to lighten up the negativity on himself. You won't be good every game. Just give the team a chance which he did today.

What on earth are you talking about.....lol.

12 games into Campbells Leafs career you are willing to conclude a lot of things. Thats 12 games over two seasons, partly because of he has been injured. Are you sure you are being objective here? :sarcasm:

I'm not saying that Campbell is the answer to the Leafs' goalie issues or is absolutely the goalie that can take the Leafs far in the playoffs. I'm saying that I KNOW that Andersen isn't that goalie and never has been. We all hoped he could be that guy, but he didn't turn out to be and its time to move on.

I know it won't happen now, but I wish we could've traded him during the offseason when there were reports that he might get moved and we might've actually got something half decent for him. Now I doubt he'll get moved and I'm not even sure he'll return anything decent anyways and the next best thing is to simply let him walk after this season.

The first save on mcdavid he was lucky, he missed it and it went armpit it just happened to catch a bit of his body and go just wide.

The blocker save was very clutch though.

nonetheless I love Campbell he is a great band-aid and the perfect backup - but he’s probably not the cure to the Leafs problems in net.

If he’s on top of his game Freddy is the much better goalie. But that is a massive “if” he’s not been there for about a year. tbh since he switched out of bauer gear to ccm/lefevre/true - wish he’d go back it suits his style much better. But I guess endorsement money is nice eh.

I’m still on team get a goalie. I don’t see how the brass can place this teams’ fortunes on the shoulders of either guy tbh.

He needs just a shade of that Tukka Rask mentality.

"Yeah I slipped up a bit BUT I MADE CLUTCH STOPS AND MY TEAM STILL NEEDS TO f***ING WIN!"

I prefer his Canadian disposition. It’s much more level headed and reminds me of the Raptors team vibe on the road to the finals

Our best player, is Matthews. I don't know anything you guys don't. I could dig, but seriously. Asking NHL guys, about anything other than general news. Its not fun.

They don't like saying anything and after years of prodding, I don't like asking.

So, all I will say, from an average fans standpoint. Matthews is playing, but his wrist is not up to par. But the guy is so slick, he is finding ways to still get us wins.

Do I want to see him wrist something faster than Bobby Hull or Rick Vaive could manage on a slapper? Course, who the heck doesn't.

I think, everyone should be in awe, that this guy, without his shot, is still winning, and winning a lot.

Guy, is a serious talent He is just succeeding along, and boy, what a contract he is going to get after this one is up.

I think he is loving the Toronto big city experience. But if Arizona gets its shit going? He is gone. Just a guy who loves his parents, and siblings and wants to go home imo.

Signing a five year contract. Man did he ever leave a lot of options open.

Jack Campbell in 6 GP is 6-0. I don’t know in what universe that ISNT your starter
I've been seeing on multiple threads the "he isn't the answer" type of comment. So annoying. Give him, at the very least, 15 to 20 games before making anything even close to a definitive statement! The stickhandling errors - he's actually known to be a good stickhandler. I doubt those continue. Yesterday? One bad goal. After that, timely saves. We won the freakin' game too! I don't know what people expect.

Campbell definitely pulled a couple of game savers in the third against Nurse and McDavid.

If any goaltenders on the Board can give insight to his stance for me that would be great. He has a different style of playing to me, almost old school standup. He looks smaller than he is for some reason yet makes the save usually. I looks harder to beat him up high, but more vulnerable down low if that makes sense.

Glad to see someone who sees this like it really was as opposed OMG what a clutch save.

Campbells been great but we don't have to pretend he made an amazing save when had no chance to react, and was lucky the puck didn't go in.

He hasn't been tested at all in my opinion, we have to wait for a Jets game or maybe the Habs

You leaf fans crack me up when it comes to goaltending lol.
I mean this all in good fun but Freddy can have a game where he makes 45 saves and allow two goals and a 100 posts will follow dissecting the goals rather than the saves.
Cambell gets treated like a God after a dozen games he.gets annoited as the starter to the point of having a goalie making a million back him up next season. The situation reminds me of how a certain portion of Nuck fans treat Myers, the guy has been very good since he got here especially this season he's a legit top 4 guy who does everything above average big physical, but every single mistake and the pitchforks come out. Good luck the rest of the way and please beat the Oilers, Habs, and Jets please

He definitely plays a more old school hybrid style. He doesn't follow the new way of goaltending which is playing robotic, blocking style. He plays fairly deep in the crease and waits for the puck to come to him first rather falling into default positions. Its the old reactive style and reminds me of Kiprusoff.

As far as him looking small, he plays with a low crouched stance with his arms in tight to the body rather than presenting a large wingspan to the shooter. His chest protector looks kind of small as well. He might use a more old school streamlined one. I know his pads are more old school. He uses an older model V4 pad from Vaughn with the new V9 skins. The V4 uses shredded foam that broke down really quick and were a more flexible and soft pad as opposed to today's pads which are mostly a one piece of high density foam that is more stiff and gives off bigger rebounds. Campbell doesn't give out very big rebounds. He absorbs almost everything.

So true. Had that been Andersen in net there would have been 100 posts running him out of town within 2 minutes of the first goal talking about the 5 hole. Same thing for the second goal where the narrative would have been that he overcommitted to the shooter and the 3rd goal he should have been in a better stance so that the puck would have hit him. And lastly, he would have been lucky that the team finally scored to take him off the hook whereas Campbell gets credited for somehow giving them confidence to come back. Never a dull moment ...

He had no chance to react but if it went in it would probably be another bad goal in the eyes of some, after all Nurse was in even closer on his goal.

A few years ago? No.

Last year and a half? Yes, because he's been bruuuuutal.

Thankfully the Leafs have won 3 straight and are getting back on track since the Freddy freefall.
