I guess the other 22 guys on the roster had NOTHING to do with it. No defensive lapses or breakdowns. Its almost like you didnt watch those games, that or you need to learn the game more.
Freds season is over,,it's done,,burnt toast

This is soups team now

Simple way to split games:

Play Andersen on back to backs only till we gain separation again and lock 1st place and then split to give Campbell rest till the playoffs start.

If we play Andersen like a starter and play him in the playoffs, we deserve to lose.

I agree with 1a and 1b 100%

Though I would not split like that.

Ride the hot goalie 70-80 percent. If they are comparable, I would do 1 or 2 mini series each.

I'd start by letting Campbell play 3-4 in a row and keep going as long as he keeps playing well and if he can keep it up, then he's the new #1.

It's way too early to say Andersen is done though like some people are saying. The way I see it, the goaltending situation is uncertain, for now Campbell deserves a chance to show he can be the #1 guy but we need to be prepared to re-evaluate every week or so.

If only it was that easy.

But you need to be completely hyperbolic!

Some people get clearly carried away and certainly not every goal is Andersen's fault, but I don't think it's unfair at all to say that Andersen has been below average more often than not the last year or so. Whether it's simply injuries or decline in his game is something the Leafs need to figure out in a hurry and make moves accordingly. This team and opportunity is too good to let it go wasted

I was hoping they could pull off a trade for the goalie of the now and the future but I just don't see it happening any more. Goalies are voodoo and trading for a guy that will spend the next two weeks in a hotel just seems too risky. We're rolling with what we got so we have to hope that either Campbell is up to the job or Freddie finds his form again, that's it.

Some people seem to think that we'd of won the last 3-4 cups if only we had an average goalie in net. It's beyond ridiculous at this point.

Gotta roll Campbell let Freddie get his head/leg right. Doesn’t seem to be many options to improve.

unless we want to go for arizona/buff

my plan A Is dreiger in the summer. We will see how it goes

Andersen has been bad for nearly 2 years now, why do we need to reevaluate every week?

Unless Campbell’s stats somehow fall below Andersen’s he’s the #1 guy.

Yeah right now Campbell should be getting the starts.

Earlier in the year I could see the case for an even split but smat this.point one goalie is playing wildly better than the other.

If Campbell's play starts slipping, of course, then Fred or other goalies should get more games.

It's all about how the goalies play.

Play the goalies that are playing best. That's it.

I said start by giving Campbell the next 3-4 starts. If he sucks then you need to re-evaluate.

Why? It took years of bad games for most leafs fans to criticize andersen.

LOL, no it didn't. And Andersen was really good for most of his first 3 years here so this "years of bad games" is a huge overstatement and only serves as further evidence of how bitter you are.

We won last night, everyone played well for a change, be happy. :)

The andersen apologists on this form are so unbelievable detached from reality it’s becoming unbearable. How many 4-1 collapses, soft goals, and spineless composure inadequacies must you ignore to keep this perpetual bullshit going?????? Your fear of experiencing self doubt and dissonance is so strong that you have to distort reality and make it appear that the critics are just “being meanies” so you can continue to live this lie. GROW UP

It's the only way to convince yourself that Dubas built a fundamentally flawed rather than admitting that it's one replaceable piece holding us back. Coincidentally, that piece is Lou's biggest move and one of only two still left on the roster.

Since Freddy came here, these boards have been split... Every. Single. Year.

One group said he was the best in the nhl, other group said he just padded stats with soft saves due to shitty defense. Depending on the current win/loss situation is where the majority of peoples opinions were.

The way I see it, Freddy has always been inconsistent, October Freddy, November Freddy, play-off Freddy, etc... when he is on, he is one of the best, likewise when not. He has been just above average I would say from the beginning till now.

We have never seen him with any mental rest since coming here. He has always been the go to. He only rested on back to backs or for an injury. In Toronto, mental rest is needed, especially when you are the only capable goalie in everyone's eyes(mcbackup did his job good!)

If he can't rebound this year as a 1a or 1b, I would try to resign at a discount and if he signs awesome, if not, thanks for your time here. I would love to go after ullmark. Even now, if the cost is worth it(I think he is the best we could get for what we pay)

We all wanna see the boys win, it's not about being an apologist or not, it's about what's best for the team. Right now we are going to ride Campbell and see what we have, that's a must. Only way I am on board with kicking Freddy out is if the boys have lost all faith in him, which I do not see yet. otherwise he is part of the team and can earn number one back if he so chooses.

I definitely do not want to ride Campbell like we have freddy though. We need a decent tandem to let the guys rest for a bit. Every year that was the plan but it never happend.

Didn't get a chance to watch the game, so watched the NHL game in 3 or whatever it is.

Engvall line was in a lot of the highlights. Their speed always seems to be on display.

Showed some of Matthews close calls. Not happening for him right now.

It's just as valid to say that earlier in the year we were winning game after game without Andersen having to play great so to use your own words - it's obviously something that can be done. And part of the reason we were able to do it is that our PP was a lot better then the ~5% we've been at during this slump.

Andersen deserves plenty of criticism for his play as of late. Not sure why some people want to pretend that there's nothing else that's less than perfect lately.
Nobody expects the team to be perfect and win every single game. We just don't want to see the Leafs go 1-6-0 in a stretch where they deserve a better fate because Andersen can't make any saves. Getting 3 goals in support while playing great defensive hockey should be enough to at least get games to overtime

Real glad we have another four day break immediately until our next game . I get that scheduling this season was probably a nightmare but these two breaks couldn’t have been spread out more?

Perhaps this will be more in our favour though with Matthews’ wrist giving him trouble. But the final stretch of the season will still be brutal.

He better f***ing give him the start! he certainly deserves it! I will be PISSED!!!!! at Keefe if he doesn't. Andersen deserves to ride the pine.
Sry, I mean Keefe may let Andersen start. Ya, I know it sounds funny. I find the current leafs admin will give a player all opportunities to succeed if they believe in that player, and they will even trade or waive the player if Leafs can not present that opportunity. So, unless leafs are in trouble making the playoff, we may see Andersen starting few more games than he should.

Those long breaks were planning for the postponed games

Leafs have played some of their best defensive hockey ever in the Matthews' era during the 1-6 stretch. Goaltending was easily the biggest factor in us losing those games. I have no idea what rambling about "yeah but we weren't perfect everywhere else" is supposed to say.

It's like telling a person with lung cancer who's smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day that they need to stop putting so much sugar in their coffee in the morning.

I think we should try these lines:

Nylander - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Hyman
Thornton - Spezza - Simmonds
Galchenyuk - Engvall - Mikheyev
