Maybe L A just did him a solid, they knew he was good but he wouldn't usurp Quick for the starters position. So they sent him east where he had a chance to be a number 1.Dubas does not get enough credit for plucking this guy with pedigree out of LA.
I definitely feel like that was part of it along with them having goalies in the systemMaybe L A just did him a solid, they knew he was good but he wouldn't usurp Quick for the starters position. So they sent him east where he had a chance to be a number 1.
Having said that, maybe even L A didn't think he was THIS GOOD.
the pattern continues
guys on this forum were crying when Reimer was gone. even years later guys here were still loving him and yearning his return
then Andersen had his fanboys in here... and again more tears when he left
and now here we go with Campbell. Guys here are falling in love with another leaf goalie lol
one thing in common with all 3 goalies is that they all exhibit somewhat of a softer, quiet and gentle personality. Wonder if that has anything to do with all the love
either way, Campbell is off to a hot start on the season. we're just 17 games in though - yet somehow this guy is deserving of a 6 year deal???
it's hard to believe how quick people jump into things before even thinking or giving proper time to evaluate. The season is less than 1/4 young... but everyone's jumping on the bandwagon as they always do when a leaf goalie has a solid 10-game streak lol
he's playing great but wow, it isn't even remotely close to a proper sample size to begin considering 6 year deals
but hey keep jumping the gun, it's clear very few people think before they act
On track for a vezina
Or thinking you have a better team because you won 4 games before your opponent. lol!As much as I would LOVE this, this is kind of like saying shutout 10 minutes into the first period
Prefer this than listening to the "question mark on leafs goaltending"As much as I would LOVE this, this is kind of like saying shutout 10 minutes into the first period

For his career with LA he posted a 2.51GAA and .918sv%, pretty good, he just never did it as a starter.Looks like last year's storybook run and this year's start are lining up perfectly with his pre-draft potential hype.
This needs to be stickied because there's a gap in comments that forget where Campbell came from: His run pre-draft was legendary and it was justified. A couple of developmental hiccups (in Dallas) and the tasks of taking over nets owned by Kari Lehtonen and Jonathan Quick were legitimate Herculean labors.
But Jack Campbell didn't come out of nowhere. He had to be remembered for what he was and for what he might still be. For the sake of measured responses, let's assume Dubas didn't think he'd be this good. But with Campbell's pedigree, it's not unreasonable to think it wasn't in the back of Dubas' mind that he might still be.
In 41 games as a Maple Leaf, Jack Campbell is 29 - 8 - 4.
Here's hoping that a lot of people's faith is being rewarded.
A bit of North League hockey in there but still crazy amazing. In 41 games as a Maple Leaf, Jack Campbell is 29 - 8 - 4.
So you are saying me calling Kase "durable as Doug Jarvis" is a bit too soon?

This is another poorly timed Dubas contract.
