Brännström probably embelished a bit but the whistle should have been blown.

It seems they're wrong here.
If Canada hangs for the win they'll have five points, but if Russia beats Slovakia in regulation they'll have six. A Russian win in OT gives them five but they would have the head-to-head tie-breaker.
So the Slovaks needs to pull it out somehow vs Russia, despite already being eliminated. Not something I'd bet money on.
Sadly I think Liljegren has dropped ~10 spots after this tournament. Looks nothing like the player I saw last year.
Tippett feels really one-dimensional to me. He tries to shoot at every opportunity but not a lot of shots get through to the net. Bit disappointed with his performance so far. You'd want to see a bit more versatility in a projected top5 pick.
That sounds a little drastic. Which player(s) would have passed him? It's only one tournament (actually 2½ games atm) still.
Looks like Canada's out
correct.

edit - skv - rus 2:3 at 58th minutes... not finished yet.
Where can I see boxscores? The Hlinka site is not updating anything.

D-men tend to quickly drop far when people start questioning their hockey sense. Kylington dropped an entire round in many rankings after a bad 5-nations tournament if I remember correctly. If this was my 1st view of Liljegren then I'd definitely not place him in the top 10 of any draft.
I've seen Liljegren at his best and I know how fantastic he can be but in this tournament he's been a liability. He loses the puck a lot, makes badly timed rushes and I don't think even half of his passes connect.
This chaotic style of hockey that's played at the Hlinka probably doesn't fit him very well though, there's obviously some rust after a long break as well.
The team played fairly well, but just like John McFarland's Kingston Frontenacs, this team can't score. This '99 group won the U17s and in that tournament, Canada split their team into 3 teams and one of the teams ended up winning the whole tournament. This group is good and we were going to lose this tournament eventually. Just create another streak next year. They dominated the Russians, it's not like we were lucky to score 1 goal, the Russian goalie stood on his head and then they scored 2 quick goals. It sucks, but we played better than the Russians and it's too bad. This group of Canadians are good, they'll be dominating the 2017 NHL Draft and they'll do well at the U20s.
In 2015, Canada won everything there was to win in hockey except the U18s. I wouldn't be crying for a whole change in Canada's grassroots level just yet.
We can definitely improve a lot though.
