Prospect Info: Ivan Demidov (2024 5th OA): SKA St. Petersburg (KHL): Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

If CKA is eliminated after the 1st round, what’s to say they wouldn’t assign Demidov to its MHL team? Don’t know if their rules allow it and when MHL playoffs might end at the latest.

I just hope he gets here before the trade board lets him go to another team for a 38 year old center because we are going all in to the finals next year!

Dismissing Crosby as a 38 year old center is ignorant. He's very fit and still has better production than Suzuki in spite of playing with garbage. He's likely to be effective for another three or four years, like Jagr and Chelios.

Washed up Crosby has 8 points in his last 5 games.

Trading a 19 year old who projects as the best player we’ve drafted in 3 decades for 2 maybe 3 years of Crosby is insane

You still don't trade Demidov for Crosby at this point.

It's a rumor that they will. Which Demidov should flat out refuse to do. It'd be like the Sharks sending Celebrini to the WHL to help a junior team win the Memorial Cup.

Why shouldn't they? SKA developed Demidov.

The Habs would do the same if they had a CHL team and their best u20 players were eligible and available. It's not like a handful of games in junior is gonna ruin Demidov's development.

Why shouldn't they? You don't put a top player in the entire league, and your best point getter, down two levels just because.

The Habs would not do the same. The Habs would not send Lane Hutson to Laval at the end of this season and that's less of a drop than the KHL to the MHL.

Can't refuse.

Yes he can. Ryabkin did it.

It's not 'just because'.
Stop thinking in North American terms. Under the Russian hierarchical development system, the Habs would undoubtedly send Hutson to the QMJHL playoffs. They'd want their team to win.
Montreal doesn't because in North America there's separation between teams and leagues.

And no, Ryabkin didn't refuse. He played. He just whined, pouted and was a total liability on the ice. Only after Ryabkin's shenenigans did Dyanmo let him out of his contract. He wasn't worth the effort for them.
