That's true, and I forgot about the shortages. I recall watching a 60 minutes segment where dell(I think) was projecting that in the near future, there's going to be global shortages on all sorts of chips. Well, here we are.

I wonder if they knew COVID was coming then?

The Dodgers have been weirdly quiet for a team with their payroll and willingness to keep adding.

Scherzer's gone. Kershaw's being tied to a return home in Texas. Bauer presumably is gone (once possible) since reports were saying no one in the Dodgers clubhouse wanted him back on the team after his incident.

I can't imagine they're just going to roll with fangraphs has their rotation as now; Buehler/Urias/Gonsolin/Heaney/Price.

If you had to improve the infield, rotation and pen without making a trade, who would you sign? Assuming its a realistic one, can't just say Correa because that's not happening.

I'm intrigued a bit by Chris Taylor. I also wonder if the money dries up and one of Bryant, Story or Baez gets less than they want and maybe they take a shorter deal and try to use us like Semien did?

I'd love to have Story playing 2nd, but I can't see him taking a short term deal. Hes too good of a player to not get paid. He'd be a great replacement for Semien though.

Taylor wouldn't be a bad add. Was an all-star, had an admittedly rough second half but he seemed to come back to life in the postseason.

Probably would be a lot more cost effective than whatever the f*** Correa and Story get lmao.

Daniel Hudson to the dodgers. Kirby yates to the braves. Yates oh what a year he had for the jays. Almost as good as mike sirotka

Different situations. Sirotka was the Jays a) not doing due dilligence and b) possibly also being conned by the White Sox. Yates they knew was damaged goods but the deal was essentially them rolling the dice that they'd get value out of him before anything bad happened to his arm. It was just bad luck that it happened right away. One situation was a calculated risk that went poorly (which is just gonna happen sometimes), the other was more directly caused by front office ineptitude.

Still trying to figure out how Seager gets 10 years

Texas saw what the Mets are doing and thought "two can play at that game", followed by them immediately phoning a heavy machinery rental company

Wonder if Atkins is in on Conforto. Could be a nice bounceback candidate.

I imagine that's only something they look at if they know they intend to make a move with the OF pieces (likely Grichuk or Gurriel). Because the way things are at the moment the OF is fine the way it is and there's no sense spending money there when it would be put to better use on the infield, back end of the rotation, or in the pen.

Everything's bigger in Texas

Rangers spent $1.1B to build the new stadium. They didn’t get to use it in 2020 due to COVID and they were terrible in 2021.

Not that I agree with their thought process but they added names to sell jerseys and seats.

In addition if 7 teams make the playoffs from each league, they have a better shot. So to an extent, they were motivated.

SP - ideally Rodon, but maybe someone like Duffy on a short-term rebuild-value contract?
RP - Iglesias is the obvious one. On the lower end, maybe McHugh or Knebel? Or bring Tepera back!
Position players - Bryant, but I get that it's probably not realistic. Schwarber or Seager would be solid improvements if the term is right.

I honestly think they're still at least a #1 AND #2 starter away from maybe being a fringe competitor, even after spending half a billion this week.

Cyber Monday's usually about getting deals and bargains. This is like getting the stuff in your cart then opening up the customer support chat window to ask if you can pay full price instead of taking the savings.

The Rangers have just parked the money truck in front of two elite middle infielders, but did so by giving them ridiculous term and have blown what has to be a massive chunk of their budget for the next few years without otherwise fixing their extremely broken team that lost 100 games last season.

@Cloned will appreciate the reference, but this feels like those bad last few years for the Oilers where they had McDavid, Draisaitl, and like 20 other shlubs and couldn't for the life of them figure out why nothing was getting any better.
Chiarelli is the shadow GM of Texas confirmed.

Did you miss Seager signing with the rangers for 10 years and 325 million
