Could be, but he sounded pretty specific. I have no idea who his sources are though. Chayka might be interesting but he seemed like a fraud and somebody the rest of the GM's would not like to deal with after what happened in Arizona. I mean he traded for Kessel who we all knew was cooked. Bergevin I just don't understand - though I like his aggressiveness I guess, and he's probably pretty popular around the league.

I don't know why the Penguins GM would already be decided if they're still interviewing 10-12 people and haven't even gone on to round 2 in negotiations. Especially considering Chayka's name isn't even mentioned.

FSG is new to hockey. It is going to canvass far and wide to get the right candidate. That includes at least speaking to candidates who may not be the most appealing now but who were once successful.

Chiarelli won a Cup. Bergevin was just in the Cup Final. Learning about what they did right - and where they went wrong - is helpful. Just like having Botterill and Karmonos interview. They can share what it was like under past Pens GMs, how their other experiences have differed, and what they've learned.

Doesn't mean you have to hire them.

omg, that would be horrific lol…edit: if you listen beginning 1:03 of the Steve Dangle podcast, Dangle himself says these do not seem like two guys who would get along and have the same ideas, and Dangle asked a guy on the podcast what he thought about Bergevin and the guy goes "Oh my god, do they want to get worse?"…lol

Certainly would make you wonder, after not being involved with FSG and the team all year, if Mario was involved in some capacity in the hiring process…after witnessing his last hire of Hextall, FSG should go nowhere near his suggestions lol
