Also, IF HuGo are "out" of the game.... Why is LAK even entertaining giving up good assets to the Jets? I mean, there's only one team left then, right? Isn't that as awful an outcome for the Jets when you can't even shop the guy?
It seems the pundits/beat writers are being told that LAK did the better offer and Jets accepted to trade Dubois to them. The puzzling part is that Jets haven't given LAK the rights to talk to Dubois's camp yet according to more accurate insiders. This suggest they don't have a trade deal down in reality.

Or the Jets are trying to screw the Kings over.

Why would they do that if it's the best offer on the table?
They were rumors right after the draft last year that Hughes had a deal with the Jets for Dubois but that Chevy tried to get more at the last minute. He might be trying to do the same here.

I just don’t get why he couldn’t wait a year to be free to sign wherever he wants.
My guess is that maybe his thinking is that winnepeg might not be good next year. He would have to be elite to showcase his value as UFA on a bad team to maximize his next contract.

What a nightmare that would be.

I would much prefer a General Manager who doesn't care whether he wins or loses the deals he makes, that sounds like a great idea.
Only certain GMs even think in terms of 'winning' and 'losing' trades and they're usually not the good ones. To get value back the other guy has to get value back as well. It's not zero-sum, and it's not so simple. Bergevin never understood that -- but he certainly thought he won all his trades. How did that fare?

If the Vilardi rumors are true, I have no idea how he thinks he would get more from someone else...

I haven't read the last 50+ pages of this thread so don't kill me if this idea is not new, but here goes:

- WPG wants pieces that can be plugged into the lineup right away and contribute (no futures)

- LA has better such pieces to offer than us (Dach is a non-starter, Vilardi/Iafallo is more interesting than Anderson/Dvorak)

- We've heard that WPG is interested in Sanheim from PHI

How about a 3-way trade? You guys can help me iron this one out but here's my 1st attempt:

MTL trades: Anderson, Farrell, 31st pick
PHI trades: Sanheim
WPG trades: Dubois, Gawanke, 3rd

MTL receives: Dubois, Gawanke
PHI receives: Farrell, 31st, 3rd
WPG receives: Sanheim, Anderson

Now, I'm not saying this should be the plan at all costs, but I could see it working out.

Isn’t that what thieves do on the mean streets of the Peg? “Chevver” has clearly spent too much time there. :sarcasm:

I would agree with him that he had a very high winning percentage on trades and that was of enormous benefit to the Montreal Canadiens.

Jets fans tell us they don't need LD.

Elliott and Marek on 32 thoughts released a few mins ago. Doesn’t really give much new info.

- as reported, Jets haven’t given permission to the Kings yet to speak to Dubois (at least at the time of recording)

- Says he thinks it will be interesting to see whether Dubois signs an 8 or 1 year deal.

- Says 1 year deal to help Kings with cap this year then big contract extension next summer, like Kk he says. (Wut?)

- however, thinks the kings and jets are building towards a deal

- Mentions what we know Vilardi and either Iafallo or Arvidsson to shed cap. No Byfield.

- No mention of Montreal after these two were a couple of the biggest “Dubois is only interested in Montreal” guys.

Not much from them really, all obvious stuff. The 1 year to 8 sounds risky and not realistic. Why wouldn’t he just reach unrestricted free agency at that point?
