"Now I'm not saying the deal won't happen but let's not get ahead of ourselves. By all accounts it looks like a done deal, but hold on a minute here as there still needs to be the official sign off and look, does it get done? I gotta think so, but at the same time you gotta let the process play out and I'd say that hasn't happened quite yet..."

I read that in Dreger-voice and that shit had me rolling. 🤣

That's excessive, and bordeline coping. A sense of relief maybe. But a lot of people were probably rooting to get PLD, I doubt your typical habs fan is dancing and cheering about losing the Dubois sweepstakes, even if he was obviously not the missing piece to turn around the franchise. Otherwise this thread wouldn't have been so popular.

This board shit talks a lot. The trade of PLD was a reality and the discussion of it was dominanting our trade thread, so we made this thread, and we just stuck with the one thread.

It's always been 50/50 on getting PLD, and many of his supporters were only supportive within a certain parameter too.

But, this thread will join other epic ones like the Weber-Subban trade threads, the Hossa gloves thread, and that time too many of us stayed up to track Montréal's private flight from L.A. because we were told the Kostitsyn bros were about to be arrested.

It's just HFHabs.

While it seems the deal to LA is done... Why isn't anyone from TSN or Sportsnet reporting it? Or a I missing that they have ? Usually you hear from Friedman or Lebrun.

I feel like, if Dubois signs in LA, he actually destroys his narrative…

He played badly in Colombus to get traded to mtl

Ge did the same thing in Winnipeg and got critisized this year. But it was ok, he wanted to play for mtl. So he really didn’t give his all.

But if then he signs in LA… then I feel lile he has no more excuses for his lucklustre effort for both of his teams.

He becomes absolutely a player with questionable character.

That’s if he signs in LA

What other people?
Sorry I worded that wrong

The other "insiders" aside from Pagnotta who chimed in to it.

Mods, you know what to do.

Are you ok?

Someone get this man some milk, OFC you’d take this as the jets GM..

As the habs.. you should be fired instantly.

Make up your mind, is this bad as a Jets GM or as Habs GM? It cannot be both.

As a Jets GM you can only deal with a few teams, you are very restricted. You are lucky to get anything. And you get a young man in Barron that's on the verge of being a very good offensive D in the league. You get a top prospect in Hutson and the first pick of a rebuilding team next year. By getting that you build your D squad for the future.

For the Habs you get Dubois without losing big roster players and you still have a gazillion prospect Defensemen. We are stacked even without Barron and Hutson.

He didn't play badly for Winnipeg, although his final game was awful, but that was true of the entire team.

Or Seravalli or Chris Johnson.

The only people who seem to have any “insight” seems to be Winter-peg beat writers (Ates & Billeck), if I was a conspiracy theorist I’d be inclined to say Chevaldayoff’s desperately trying to use them to create market demand that just isn’t there…

These PLD and LA updates are definitely a psy op to try and manipulate the Habs into caving
Yea I'm not buying any of this until it's official.

Remember chychrun? Shit was a roller coaster and of course LA was involved in that too.

Must be the Bergevin special

First of all Winnipeg would have to take back salary. The only way I'd let Hutson, Barron, and the 1st (top 10 protected) go is if they take Gallagher's contract. But that'll also probably signal that HuGo was willing to give up D because he's interested in taking a D in Reinbacher at the draft. I'd rather Habs just not do that all together

It means the deal is done, or close to be done or not that close to be done.

For the salary I wrote Dvorak. So that the Jets can at least fill the center spot that they would have lost. And we don't have to take Reinbacher, we have plenty of D prospects.

I know that the Jets GM want to be competitive still but let's face it by losing Dubois, Sheiffle and Wheeler, it's more likely they are going towards a rebuild whether Dayoff wants it or not. They are never gonna have equal value.
