What??

Marek saying he didn't even want to list a number 2 team because Montreal was so far ahead.

Friedman saying 95% chance he ends up in MTL. "Montreal is the clear favourite".

Basically every single insider saying Montreal was 1st on his list.

I have no clue if that's true or not but don't do the rewriting history thing to make it sound like people just made it up.

Only coming to MTL? Yeah that was never said, but having MTL 1st? There was plenty of evidence.
This says more about their credibility as insiders than it does about PLD wanting to come here.

I’ve been saying since page 1 of this silly thread that there wasn’t any evidence we were his first choice and there was definitely no evidence we were his only choice. It didn’t stop the 285 + pages from continuing though.

I am relieved, I never wanted him, good riddance and let’s move on.

Dubois was only interested in forcing his way out of the Peg. Montreal was a possible destination but nothing more. As has been noted in this thread, Dubois never made any commitment of exclusivity to any destination.

Friedman stoked the fires with his 95% teaser and I suspect too many fans fell for his hyperbole.

More importantly, have they reached him yet for his sign and trade or is he too busy partying with Habs players in Montreal?
Yes, but wouldn't it be absurd and irrational to expect Dubois to force a trade to Montreal?

He has to do what's best for his career and for his life. If he can sign a 68 million dollar contract now he should do it, rather than wait a year which comes with the risk of a single injury tanking his value. On the other hand, the upside is small, if he has an amazing year, he will make more than 68 million dollars but not a huge amount more.

Finally, perhaps the Winnipeg GM is irrational and will accept a lesser trade offer to another team over a package from Montreal. That's happened before.

I didn't care much from day 1 if PLD ever came to the Habs via trade (due to cost in assets required) but once this is finally done with LA I won't have to read spiteful and bitter posts from some Jet fans directed at the Habs and Habs fanbase again for a while.
Did you catch any of the bitter and spiteful posts here when certain people didn't like the way some have been reading the situation from day one. Even worse IMO.

We're not in a position to add yet. Team has to move from being gawd awful to at least close to good. You have to be where Buffalo & Ottawa are, where you're, ok we can add now.

Or, New Jersey last summer where they identified they were good, but needed to improve D and goaltending then did.

We still have garbage players on our team left over from Bergevin era like Armia, Hoffman, Gallagher, and Dvorak.

We don't have the cap space for it either.
Exactly. Don't want to add a 9m caphit for a 60pt player this early in the rebuild.

Dvorak would be going the other way, so one way to consider the cap hit is to ask if Dubois brings in 4.0 million dollars of marginal value above Dvorak.

According to Arpon in an article he wrote for the Athletic last week. Montreal was originally Dubois desired destination and then he decided to “open it up” to 5-6 teams because he wanted to “do right” by the Jets.

So it does kinda sound like at first it was just Montreal. Whether this was actually an official request to the Jets I don’t know. But he seemed to have changed his mind at some point according to Basu’s source.
Lmao, he wanted to do right by the jets, such a sweetheart. f*** off PLD, I’m so glad we’re not giving anything for this guy.

Never said, nor inferred that in any post I’ve written cause it’s so obvious that it would completely negate any leverage he could hope to have in what is the most important contract of his career.

He did what was best for him. Can’t blame him for that.
