The offersheet threat is a real one, on July 1 a team like Colorado could offer him what Carolina offered us, a 1 yr at say 7. If Dubois signs then all Colorado gives up is a 1st and a 3rd and they figure out the long term later if Landeskog is injured. For Peg they'll be forced to let him go as a 1 year deal will mean they cant trade him.

Within the first week of July he'll be traded

I feel the same way. It's like Kings have pieces like a bunch of young guys who are not established in the NHL, meanwhile, Habs have to part ways with guys who are full-time NHL'ers in order to make it work.

The Byfield, Durzi, Turcotte or Vilardi talks all started with a speculation, not actual insider infos. Just one speculated that the Kings had those pieces to make it work and they were aggressive, but it was never mentioned that they offer those players or even interested to do so.

Exactly this! Montreal is still rebuilding and not in a position to get into a bidding war.

Hell, I see names like Harris and Barron commonly thrown in every trade as if there was a stockpile of Ds that can just take their spot on the fly. I'm not saying they are untouchable but I would wait until Ds like Mailloux or even Hutson are closer to making the team before trading away half of the team's young defensemen.

I think people vastly underrate the value of MTL’s young defenceman… People don’t realize how few teams have guys like Harris or Barron that have shown they can stick in the NHL and have room for considerable growth. Is the Romanov trade really that distant of a memory?

I’d be surprised to see a team resorting to an OS in a long time if not ever again. The last one was a spite OS and a warning shot about what awaits any team venturing into one.

Use an OS and see that team not only burn its future dealings with the OS-targeted team but also see the latter raid the player pool of the team availing itself of one whenever that team’s contract negotiations are stalling.

The only trump card — who the f*** would ever agree to sign an OS with the Peg? :sarcasm:

They have?

I know it was mentioned in the past that a few Western teams liked Dvorak when he was with Arizona, but I don't remember if Winnipeg was one of them.
Friedman mentioned this last couple of trade deadlines - quite a few Western Conf teams hold Dvorak in high regard. Teams were apparently trying to acquire him at 2022 deadline and HuGo decided to keep him.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

sure hope you are right
The premise was Western Conf is built more on ground & pound game w less emphasis on track meet that Eastern Conf is focused on, combined w Dvorak’s natural defensive awareness & face off play

The speculation is for the Habs, too. But the specilulation regarding Habs players are the Dachs, Suzukis, Caufields or Guhles. Their top players/prospects.

But the ones speculated regarding the Kings are guys that are not established (aside from Durzi).

Again showing her is face. Bury the bastard! Have some guy whack him! He’s worse than PK now!

The guy is now the Forrest Gump of Mtl. He’s showing up at every event. Next thing you know, he’ll be on stage playing sax at the Jazz Festival, DJ’ing at Ile Soniq and singing Sweet Child O’ Mine with Axl and Carrie Underwood at Parc Jean-Drapeau!

Get him outta here!
