Kings fans don't seem to want to give up Vilardi or Byfield for PLD. They're in the same conundrum as the Canadiens. Really looking forward to seeing who pulls the trigger and for what.

Crazy thought.

Say Winnipeg wants to compete and not rebuild.

Say they are willing to throw money at someone who can score goals while changing up their locker room.

Perhaps a surprising but logical trade could be Dubois for deBrincat one-for-one.

Each side pays their guy pretty much what he wants on an extension. Both have the cap room.

I mean did anyone see Tkachuk for Huberdeau coming?

Yeah, the Jets took the risk of trading Laine/Rost for Dubois thinking they can convince him to stay and then try that again with DeBrincat? I don't think so.

They are looking for Barron+ and Vilardi+ type pieces. Guys already NHL ready

Dubois Birthday is June 24th. Traded before or after?

Kings offer is probably Turcotte, Spence, M Roy. Doubt they are going to move either of Lafallo or Arvidson as NHL contracts.

Only way Jets trade for Debrincat is with a long term extension.

But I can't see Debrincat wanting to sign long term in Winnipeg if he wants out of Ottawa.

I really don't want him at 8.5 seems ridiculous

Why does is seem ridiculous? Are you evaluating by points? If so, Horvat is a career 0.67 pts/game and Dubois is at 0.7 pts/game. Taxes are similar in NY vs Montreal and Horvat just got 8x $8.5M but with $0 signing bonus structure.

Anything less than $8M AAV for 8 years becomes a very good value contract the minute the 24/25 season starts ($90M cap).

My guess is it falls between $8M - $8.5M. His 8 year deal is 7 UFA years. What players are worth on long term deals is about future market, not current or past.

Only way Jets trade for Debrincat is with a long term extension.

But I can't see Debrincat wanting to sign long term in Winnipeg if he wants out of Ottawa.

Dubois also has to want to sign with the Sens. Don't forget that too. No way the Sens will take that deal without an extension. I doubt the Sens are on his list.

I don't see this happening but it's never 0%.

I'm evaluating by moment of addition , we don't need to add dubois at that price right now.

Maybe if the team is ever good and an adition like that could help us win but adding a sub ppg UFA at that price to our core of sub ppg players is just not something i'm interested in

I beg to differ and I bet you so do Gorton/Hughes and also MSL.

The problem I have with "we don't need him now" is thinking you will be able to find a center like that at a future date. Good luck with that. Saying no to Dubois today is like saying no to Poehling+ for ROR thinking that Poehling will be a good 2C or 3C.

Idk sign for cheap , he's ridden with red flags I don't see why we break the bank for this diva.

Be a hero , fix your image , sign for cheap , guy is all talk talking about playing for his hometown team yeah ok buddy take a paycut lmao

This has probably been posted already....but...here you go!

This guy is using his hat to hide his excitement.

The price to acquire him is what will determine if he's worth getting or not. But I disagree that we don't need him because the team needs to get good before we add someone like this. For me, adding him will make the team better. It won't suddenly transform them into contenders. And it doesn't have to. He can be a building block that helps them get there when the team continues to add through draft, trade or UFA over the next year or two.

Lol Jets fans asking for Barron+31+Beck/Mesar for PLD and not take back any cap dumps. 3 1sts (albeit late 1sts) for a player that wants out and only one team he wants can actually afford him. If the roles were reversed Chevy wouldn't even offer a used condom.
Barron + 31 + Mesar? I wouldn’t even be mad at that to be honest. If that’s what they want, give it to them.

Same here.

But I think that the Jets will still want roster players who can step into their line-up right away. From everything I've read, Jets don't want to rebuild. So they want warm bodies that can step into their line-up right away. So I see them looking for a pick, a prospect and a roster player.

So I don't think they'll want a package with only a pick, a prospect who has yet to play a single NHL game and a 21-year old with less than 50 NHL games experience.

I wouldn't be against that deal to be honest, I'd prefer trading Harris over Barron but no big deal. Like Adam said, a roster player would have to be going the other way as well from what's reported, the Jets want to still compete, Dvorak or Armia would have to be moved and make room for us signing PLB

The Jets are rumored to be very demanding despite being in a place of weakness. Which I'm sure will go great for them.

Especially considering I think I've seen Dubois on 3 different social media posts in Montreal this past week.
