The original report from Basu and Godin was that all teams on PLD's list have permission to negotiate with Brisson.

Meanwhile, Brisson can begin talking to those teams about the parameters of a new contract. The plan is for this to be a sign-and-trade, where the Jets sign Dubois to an eight-year contract and then trade him to his new team.

What we’re hearing on the Canadiens, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Carter Hart

Then they got the permission. Which is what I was saying. At this point, the only way other teams can talk with PLD and Brisson is if Jets give permission because he's still under contract with Winnipeg. After July 1st, although he's an RFA, teams can talk to him more freely without asking Jets for permission.

i think he has intention, the opportunity to join wasn’t there and you can’t keep risking your families future if the team won’t do the same.

With that said, where are you Adam Michael’s I need my twitter updates s

Maybe the deal is taking so long because the 1st Montreal is offering is the convoluted Calgary 1st they got for Monahan. So the Jets have been reading it since December and are probably almost done understanding it.

If its a sign and trade, the 5th OV would pretty much have to be a part of it. I'm fine with that, in the grand scheme of things. You do have to give something to get something.
No, I don’t think this is right at all.

We all know relative values of RFAs. You don’t need to fabricate things or pull them out of dark holes.

Just look at what Kevin Fiala was valued. He was a pending RFA, softer but PPG, and one year older than Dubois.

I do not see why the 5th overall would have to be part of the deal, it should be a non starter. If that is what Winnipeg is asking then you walk away....easy decision.

I heard David Amber on the radio saying he thinks it will cost the 5th overall pick and more ("plus-plus" were his words) for the Habs to get PLD.

Which explains why he hasn't been traded yet. Montreal just needs to sit tight here. I trust Hughes not to trade #5 or Dach for PLD.

#31 & Barron is pretty close to what Fiala got. Big difference though is Minnesota got #19, so Montreal can throw in another draft pick or prospect to make up the difference.

Why would you need a sign and trade when the player is agitating to come to your team and will sign an extension when he gets there? PLD will not sign anything unless he’s getting traded, so he will just negotiate his own terms once he gets to the other team. Jets have zero leverage to make him sign anything. He’s an FA next year. Habs should regard his value as a one year player and whatever fictional market Jets are creating out of thin air.

We can't afford to trade Barron though, we're too thin on RD. We could offer Harris instead.

Yes, but Price is a member of the Montreal Canadiens

Show me another thread that is 250 pages long about a player that does NOT play for the Habs

There are lots of 60 point players in the league to pursue, but everyone is obsessed with PLD, you can't tell me none of the obsession has to do with his heritage

Why wasn't there a 250 page thread about Kadri last off season?

I'm actually hoping we can get to 349 pages, which should get us to the 10k mark!

....before PLD gets traded.

Whoo-hoo! We can do it!

Go HfHabs go!

I just did the RDS.ca poll of the most valuable assets I'd be willing to give up for PLD.

Here are my top 5:
1. Matheson (imagine turning aging Petry in to 24 year old PLD. But Matheson may have a better 8 next years than PLD. But I'm willing to gamble on the forward given our depth at LD)
2. Xhekaj
3. Owen Beck
4. Josh Anderson
5. Florida 1st

Okayyyy, so what are you willing to give up for Dubois, big guy?

Do have anything to contribute to the discussion, or you just want to act rude?
Mike Matheson is one of our top 3 players, possibly our best player. I would not give up any of our top 5 when we are in talent gathering mode. We need to keep and ADD to:
Suzuki
Caufield
Matheson
Dach
Montembeault (unless a clearly better goalie is coming back)

That is about half the core-11 I'm looking for.

Holding onto any prospect who plausibly projects as core-11. If and when he no longer does (like Harris), I am willing to move him if there is value back.

So off the table at this time are :
Guhle
Slafkovsky
Farrell
Barron
Mailloux
Hutson
Dobes
Borderline, and thus not to be used as throw-ins without thinking:
Xhekaj
Engstrom
That leaves plenty of players or propsects I would be fine with having on my team but could be traded in order to HELP bring in a core-11 piece:
Anderson
Dvorak
Evans
RHP
Pitlick
Ylonen
Pezzetta
Gurianov if re-signed
Harris
Edmundson
Savard
Kovacevic
Allen
Heineman
Mesar
Beck
Roy
Kidney
Struble
Norlinder
Fairbrother
Mysak
Trudeau
Primeau

Finally, there are the guys who are overpriced but if we can offload as part of the deal, I'd love it:
Gallagher
Hoffman
Armia

Sadly, he’s doing the exact same thing with one of my posts in another thread. He’s just looking to argue for the sake of arguing.
I admit I was as a bit rude there with @Mats26. Not proud of it.

Can you point out where I was similarly rude with you? I recall only not agreeing with you, which is not the same thing.

You need to be less sensitive, considering the results so far on the poll on this board say that 65% of the fans here are unwilling to trade anything for him. So it goes to reason that your offers, as reasonable as they may be to acquire him for someone that wants to trade for him, are a complete no go for someone who does not. You are operating under the false premise that everyone wants him, so handing out assets to get it done is a must, and that the trade cost is the discussion point, whereas the vast majority, would not even give Dvorak alone for him, without knowing what the contract demands would be, and even then might balk at the contract he wants.
