They will never admit to what this is really about. You nailed it though. There’s players littered throughout the league better than PLD. It’s supposedly because he said he would come here. Yay!!!! No other player has ever said that about montreal to drive their price up.

If he was john smith there wouldn’t be a single page about him, Nevermind 250.

The heritage definitely contributes, but if a 6'3" former 3rd overall 24 year old center grew up a Habs fan and wanted to come here, there would be a ton of threads/posts about it imo.

PLD at 7M per year? That's something that happened in a science fiction movie.
Yeah.

8 mill a year for him and it makes almost no sense unless the Kings are moving someone else putz maybe Durzi and going with a fairly young team on the backend, shakey goaltending and just hoping the cap goes up so they can acquire a better goalie/more depth.

Bratt is the superior player bar none and bought out the exact same amount of RFA and UFA years that a sign and trade would. Dubois can take slightly less than Suzuki and Bratt or he can take a hike.
Bratt is not better. He has the same PPG in the regular season but PLD is much better in the playoffs. Bratt has a career 1 playoff goal. (12 games).

This is further proof that PLD is worth north of 7.9 M

I heard David Amber on the radio saying he thinks it will cost the 5th overall pick and more ("plus-plus" were his words) for the Habs to get PLD.

I'm going to assume he forgot to add the part where Chevy wakes up from his dream.

A top 5 pick isn’t going to be associated with getting rid of bad contracts. Most of those will expire by the time we’re competitive regardless outside of Gallagher who will be on Robidas island by then.

Good lord pardon my French, but f*** no

And i ain't even religious

Just let those contracts run out. Gally will probably be playing on one leg by 2 years time. He's the next obvious LTIRetirement. Hoffman and Armia will be gone by then.

People have to face the fact Habs aren't gonna burn assets to get rid of contracts and that means we still have two years before the complete roster's turned over, leaving only Price and Gally.

I was only showing Winnipeg what the plus-plus they could get from Montreal would look like.

Of course neither team does that deal.

The reason why the kings are now front runners is because they can give up vilardi we don't have such a piece that's expendable

But we can trade them the rights to negotiate with Drouin before he hits free agency. No team will top that offer. Throw in Vrbetic also to replace the departing Hellebuyck, too.

Habs still have a retention slot left. We can even pay 50% of Drouin's remaining salary before July 1st.

If Dubois is serious about coming here , it will be obvious after the trade. I have doubts about this player, not sure he fits in our cap structure but I am open to see how he develops under Martin St-Louis.
