Let's say PLD signs cheap at 7.

That leaves them 4.5 mill for 1F 1D and 1 but likely 2 goalies. Copley sucks, but if they want to run with him as a backup, but all means.

The forward and D can be signed cheap, or prospects brought up, so like 1.6ish mill.

So, 3 mil to find a number 1 goalie. It's possible, but they'll be disappointed come playoff time with their goaltending.

Bratt is not a center. Centers usually get paid more due to supply/demand.

I have Dubois in the $8M - $8.5M range but won't be surprised if he holds out for that $9M+ contract. He's open to signing the 8 year deal now but if it's not the AAV he wants, I'm sure Brisson/Dubois will just go with the 1 year arbitration deal and then head into the 2024 off season as a UFA with a higher cap.

If I was Gorton/Hughes and I was able to get a trade we can afford with the Jets, my contract offer is 8x $8M with a NMC option and over 50% paid as signing bonus. Not many teams can do the signing bonus... many teams avoid it. Signing bonus structure is one way the Habs can try to lower the AAV. And the other angle is we are rebuilding and can't afford to mess around with our cap strategy too much.

Bratt is the superior player bar none and bought out the exact same amount of RFA and UFA years that a sign and trade would. Dubois can take slightly less than Suzuki and Bratt or he can take a hike.

I don't think he's using us.....I think his interest in MTL is legitimate but not as exclusive as some made it sounds.

There's not one player in the NHL that only wants to play for one team, not at 25 years old.

Nope. I want players that don’t ask to be traded from every org they’ve been apart of and ones that don’t quit on their team.

Where they were born or the language they speak is not a deciding factor.

Sundin was because we were a contender who asked him to waive his NTC. Bob was actively pursuing him and he was Mats Sundin ffs, an actual star, not PLD.
