During draft day. Trade could have easily happened after the Dach trade. There was talk about this on our boards last draft.

No chance, if he hasn't managed it till now with much better linemates than Suzuki had had in his career, I wouldn't put much stock in it happening going forward. he may hit 70 points in the next year or so, but that is as high as I see him reaching.

Never say no chance. If you have that opinion, you are trying to nail things down too much. Dubois points will come and go like Suzuki's will. What they both do beyond points also does reveal their value on the ice.

Do you think Dubois will be forever in the 50-70 range? No season below or higher than that? Players are that consistent with points? Think about it more

We either get him for a reasonable price or he can go somewhere else. If he REALLY wants to play in mtl he can wait a year.

But is Gorton feels like we should accelerate the rebuild to get the Habs into a playoff spot, I could see them make the move.

Especially with the tension that there was between Marty and HUGO last year. Marty wants to have a group that wins games and Molson wants to have a team in the playoffs.

I wouldn't be surprised if this accelerates a rebuild.

PLD is a heck of a player. Only issue with has always been consistency but at his best he can take over a game on every facet of the game. The guy on Tony's podcast yesterday said he is a 20-50-30 player, 20% great, 50% good, 30% awful.

The difference on the defensive side between Suzuki and Dubois is not a huge gap. I'd be willing to give the edge to Suzuki.

When you add it all up, both Suzuki and Dubois are back half 1st line centers or legit 2nd line centers. They provide different things to earn this value and it's much deeper than just points. What I like the most is this would give us that physical center element that is great for the playoffs. You can have Dubois go up against the other teams big center and Suzuki can possibly be freed up more offensively by playing a weaker line.

I'd trade Hutson for Dubois but the Jets won't value Hutson like we do. Dach and Guhle are not on the table. Just not happening.

We are only going to trade for him if the cost is around the Horvat or Trouba type trades. If higher, let him go to another team and see if he gives them a hard time with the 8 year term.

Brisson saying he is open to 5 or 6 teams on the 8 year extension might be just playing nice to the Jets. For all we know, he is ok with $8.5 in Montreal but any other city will have to pay him $9.5M+

Lets say Habs get Will Smith with the 5th OA pick. At that point, Habs have 4 centres in their top 6. That's a good problem to have. I can see Dubois shifting to LW and playing on the first line with Suzuki and Caufield or on the second line with Smith when he comes up and Dach.

Honestly this is kinda why I don't care who Habs pick at 5 as long as they think they're taking BPA

I fully agree with you Vachon. PLD at his best is better than Suzuki, I know that might be an unfavorable opinion but he is really a beast when he is at his best. If a coach can get that out of him, not saying he is a superstar but he is a really complete star when he wants to be. 70-80pt player who can play all areas of the game IMO.

Asset-wise, that would be an incredibly foolish move.

Hutson represents the same for most pro scouts, a blue chip ppqb who just beat a NCAA record held by Brian Leetch. They know his potential.
