Everybody entitled to their opinion. Also, people entitled to tell people how ludicrous some opinions are
If Montreal trade the 5th overall for him then the GM gets fired.
If Dubois signs for 5 million his agent gets fired.
We all want to see someone get fired. :sarcasm:

Will Dubois cause a Habs firing? Not drafting Michkov? Or perhaps, drafting Michkov? Something else? We have forum snipers ready to pounce 24/ 7.

Funny people bringing up Thachuk and Debrincat, both much better players who've only requested out of one team not three. I'd take Debrincat at 9m 10/10 over Dubois.

It's twice and it's even funnier when people take offense about players wanting out. It's just a work contract, that doesn't involve kissing the ring of their billionaire owner and taking a blood oath with the org.

NHL teams already proven they will drop players like rocks if it's convenient for them, so maybe it's time to stop expecting unwavering corporate loyalty from the other side.

How can someone who have played for 2 teams can ask a trade from 3 teams ?

Debrincat is gonna be in his 3rd teams in 2 years

Tkachuk was traded where he wanted not in Winnipeg..

He's the other thing to consider if Habs have to give up Dach in a Dubois deal (and I'm torn about it)
1) do they even view him as a C longterm because of his face-off issues - and if so, do they feel they can replace him on the wing with guys like Slaf, Leonard and Anderson
2) He has had issues staying healthy

these will be internal arguments if they end up dealing him for Dubois.

longer term, they will then possibly go with:

Caufield - Suzuki-Slaf
Anderson-Dubois-? (Leonard/Smiith/ etc

bottom 6 not clear yet, but guys like Dvorak, Beck, Evans
at C
The main issues with Dach going into last season were whether there would be some fallout from his wrist injury and whether he could play center.

We got the answer to both of those questions for a very affordable contract.

As for missing time last year, chalk it up to the league leading man game lost totals that the Habs accrued and how the Habs’ training and medical staff may have played a significant role. I would also look at how the player is followed and trains in the off season, as another part of the puzzle — who is in charge of that and what kind of job are they doing.

I would also want to know how Suzuki and Condotta both managed to play a whole season without missing one game and use that intel to help Dach and others.

Basically, I don’t assume that it was a Dach issue (injury prone argument) unless someone proves that it is.

Dude
Don't even sweat that
Dach is a complete and total nonstarter.
Hughes is beaming after acquiring such a player and in that way
He absolutely is not throwing him away 1 year later.

Third if you include junior. There's 0 offence taken I by anyone I think, just pointing out a very real red flag for a 60 point player. Asking for a trade is one thing. Dogging it and giving up during games to help force your way out is another.

Also, instead of taking the worst possible view of ring kissing, I view it more as showing respect to the fans who make it possible to play a fun game for millions year. Fans who in many cases have been fans longer than the player has been alive.

Probably the worst Q franchise, the worst NHL franchise and a bottom-5 NHL franchise as far as management comboed with location are concerned.

I mean, Nathan MacKinnon asked out of his Q team (something Dubois didn't really do anyways). But MacKinnon got lucky and was drafted by Colorado. Dubois was drafted by Columbus.

Matthew Tkachuk basically shopped his OHL team. Jack Eichel shopped his NCAA team. Dubois didn'T quite have that opportunity in the Q.

It will be very interesting to follow the Winnipeg saga. Scheifele and Wheeler should also be on the block. That leaves Morrissey, Connor and Ehlers. Chevy wont have good sleep in the next few months. Good luck to stay competitive... He says he doesn't want rebuild but hey, face the reality my friend... You have no choice but to rebuild.

All 3 teams are so awful we can't use them as a pattern to predict future actions 10/4. It's fine to want Dubois, but to constantly act like there's nothing wrong is just wrong.
Again, what are you taking about with PLD asking a trade in JNR ??

He was traded because his team wasn’t winning that year so his team trade him to maximise his value. That’s how it work in JNR, same reason why Ethan Gauthier, Noah Warren, Willam Rousseau where traded this week or Nick Suzuki was traded his last year

I'm sorry but you tag it as "a very real red flag" then you're taking offense and it really doesn't help your argument when you flip it as a show of respect.

As far as I am concerned it's the team responsibility to create and control an environment that won't contribute to the players wanting out.
You want to hire a coach that only come with an "abrasive asshole" setting? Be my guest. You don't want to take care of your toxic lockerroom culture? Have at it. Just don't come back crying when your players want out in quick succession, that's on you.

Please don't tell me I'm offended. Pretty sure I know better about that then you  You took the worst possible interpretation, kissing a billionaire's ring, I just went the opposite direction.

The words it better because you can't interpret something as disrespectful and not be offended by it at the same time.

I would understand if people want to write that incident off as a one off, never do it again. But defending it? A 10 year old would get benched for pulling that shit in a rec league. This is a professional athlete. What Dubois did pulled so much attention because it was bizarre to see a grown man act that way regardless of his situation.

10/4, but I'm not responsible for your interpretation of my words. Dubois hasn't wanted out of a team I cheer for, so he hasn't been disrespectful to me at all, hence no offence.

I would have a million of issues if there was retaliation against a 10 years old kid for wanting to be happy and have fun playing hockey in... a rec league. But maybe that's just me.

I brought up the example of kids to beat in the point that you’re taught how to act in sports as a kid. Hockey has never been kind sport to guys who don’t have a spine. Especially at the higher levels. I had a coach damn near rip up a dressing room because I gave up a goal I shouldn’t have when I was 14. I have no doubt Tortorella was up Dubois’s ass about his play and probably should’ve held restraint in ways, but quitting on your team? Not in my DNA and anyone else here which I’m sure there’s many can relate threw their own experiences. These situations aren’t exclusive to NHL players. It happens at all levels of all sports and how PLD handled that is definitely not defendable.

Right, because defending the bullshit in hockey culture is a much better hill to die on.

I hope Dubois isn't interested in Carolina. The canes acquiring Dubois by trading Kotkaniemi would be such an annoying scenario.
It’s not the Canes style - they like short term cost effective moves like Burns or Pacioretty deals, not longterm commitments like PLD would be.

It’s not bullshit. There’s a lot you take away and learn from moments of adversity in sports. And there no doubt going to happen when you’re playing at a competitive level. It’s not just “hockey culture.”
