I’m rooting for this 6’6” guy

If you think he can become the next Jake Ottenginer take him at 29. Not enough good with goalies though to tell if he's as good

Trading away Anderson to get Dubois defeats the purpose in my opinion. They have complementary styles and would strive together. I guess all will depend on the draft. I would rather throw a lot at Columbus to get to No.3 and draft Carlsson instead of trading for Dubois but that is just me. Another possibility is that we try and acquire a franchise goalie (e.g. Jasper Wallstedt or Askarov) or someone cheaper that needs a new scenery like Maxime Comptois.
need to keep anderson plus he has a no trade

I'm not sure I follow the logic. If Winnipeg is to do an accelerated rebuild, this is what Hughes wants too, so why would he trade Winnipeg Anderson?
He wouldn’t & that’s likely not what Chevaldayoff wants either - I read is as a muliple asset package of draft pick (1st rounder) + ELC player (Harris) + NHL ready asset / minor league prospect

Because Anderson isn't very good and doesn't fit what our team is trying to do, but is overvalued by NHL GMs for his size who think they can turn him into a top 6 force. It makes perfect sense for Montreal to turn an overpaid 20G winger that does nothing for us besides the odd rush goal for a legitimate top 6 center with size to add to our rebuilding core. Anderson also has a long-term contract that is unlikely to be good value in the future (it's bad value now, and will only get worse) and simply ridding ourselves of the contract is an inherent positive.

Even if Anderson did fit our build it would still make sense to trade him because Dubois is simply better. Not every trade can be a pure picks/prospects deal on either end. It's the exact same reason we traded Romanov to get Dach even though we're trying to rebuild and get younger - Dach is just flat-out better so the trade made sense even if we'd otherwise not be looking to trade U23 players.

If pld really wants to be a hab, there is nothing easier then signing an offer sheet with the habs or any other team at a price where the jets are forced to match.
After that, it is a done deal, he aint going anywhere till free agency .

What i

What if Chevy asks for # 5 this year, for PLD? Does Hughes do it?

No deal. Massive overpayment for a one year rental. Let them drown if they think they are getting a top 10 pick. No team offers that

Only problem is that Anderson has an 8 team no trade list. So good chance Winnipeg is on it.

Not a problem cause our roster will need size and we shouldn't be easily trading Anderson. With all the rookies and youth filtering into the Habs, why are we trading Anderson who has size/strength and can offer protection? Makes no sense.

Anderson in the Dubois trade never made sense to me. I want both of these big boys on our roster.

Don't think there's an obvious goalie to take at that spot, will be a reach.

No it wouldn't.. Hrabal especially would make a lot of sense there. You can make arguments for Bjarnason and Fowler as well.

Hughes would hang up and they'd not revisit the trade again.

What does that have to do with anything I said. And Vanek was a great trade on paper but he was useless for most of that playoff run. He was on the 4th line if I remember correctly for most of it or atleast some of it.

Yeah . We couldn't score and MT puts our best scoring threat on the 4th line. Vanek was struggling, but you hope the guy snaps out if it, and best chance of that is leave him top 6. Not MT though

yes PLD is a good player but remember he will want a big long contract.
the habs have to make room cap wise and all have to fit in 2-3 years also.
Caufield will get a big long, and other will need to be paid when the time comes..

If your issue is you have too many good players on your roster, then you don't have a real issue.
