Speculation: Its going to be a seller's market at the deadline for Top 4Dmen- Who will be available??

Anyone from the Habs. What a dumpster fire outside of Slaf, Caufield, Hutson and maybe Montembault everybody should be available. Montreal looked atrocious last night

Whats Middletons price tag?
really, really, high. He's playing the best hockey of his career. He's not available, really, at least until Buium makes him expendable, and even then, neither Brodin or Buium have a fraction of his toughness and physicality.

Teams till be probably be inquiring about Nick Leddy. Been a very good defenseman for the Blues playing hard minutes with Parayko the last two yrs but def not part of the Blues future.

If Kings fans are lucky they’ll sell off
Vladislav Gavrikov at TDL and get at least a 1st for him

Rasmus Ristolainen
6’4” RHD having a good season and had a good season last year before his injury.

Montreal has Savard? Cheap contract, great shot blocker, good defensively. Looking for a first.
Not cheap nor good defensively. He’s been one of the least effective d in the league this year …just terrible . Habs will get something due to name / reputation and handedness but it would probably be more like a 3 rd or middling prospect imo . Ultra crispy

You said same about Chiarot

I did not . Let’s see the receipts . That was a truly horrific trade but I honestly don’t recall having a strong opinion one way or another prior to the deal . I think everyone was surprised by the return and the prices for that type of player have been significantly lower in recent years ( Tanev and Schenn for instance ; Tanev being way better with the cost being a 2 nd ) . Maybe gms have learned. Do you disagree that he’s bad defensively at this point ?

Matheson probably available.

Savard as well, stretching definition of top 4 on a contender. But could be a desired piece as well.

Habs looking for decent top 4 RD ceiling prospect, young centre prospect and/or picks.

Few will agree with me but I actually think Risto on the Jets 3rd pair would actually work really well. Especially if Henoia eventually overtakes Stanley and Miller.

Jets were the first team I was thinking of. If Risto is on their 3rd pair they should have a solid d for the playoffs. I wonder what they would offer for a rebuilding Flyers team.

A Risto trade is a hard one to figure out. There have been rumors going back years of Chevy being interested in him and Chevy has been shown to be a GM that will circle back on guys he's targeted in the past. There was quite a bit of scouting happening between the Jets and Flyers last year.

The Jets have been trying for year to get Logan Stanley to play a game similar to the way Risto plays and it just doesn't seem like it's happening so they clearly see a need for that type of a player. Is he decent on the PK?

The problem I see is that even with major retention he's still overpaid and a lot of teams are going to struggle to to fit him in for 2 additional years. Even if PHI holds 50% what does a 3rd pair D even an established one go for? 2nd and a 4th? Or maybe a 2nd and a B prospect or fringe NHLer? At that price is it worth it for PHI to retain that much? If the don't do full retention then what is he worth a 3rd?

I can absolutely see the Jets being very open to something like a 2nd in 26 + Dmitri Rashevsky for Risto at 25%. But for that price if that's truely the best PHI can do are they better off just keeping him. They can always trade him in the last year of his deal and probably get a 3rd or a 4th at that point.

Lol Canucks would like to repurpose or move Hronek, really hasn't been as good as we'd hoped since he signed that deal. Hope Stevie Y didn't sucker us into buying a guy who's only good in contract years...
