It appears OP is right, that is a horrendous crop of defenseman available
lol you mean the op didnt do any research at all. Minnesota is a playoff team who just gave middleton a large extension. Gave Bog a two year extension

*DISCLAIMER - not all of these guys are top 4 guys I'm strictly choosing teams who I believe could miss, and have guys available with less than 2 years on their deal.

My guess for defenders that will be on the market if these teams:

From Eastern Conference Teams:
Pittsburgh - Marcus Pettersson, Matt Grzelcyk
Columbus - Ivan Provorov, Eric Gudbranson?, Jack Johnson
Montreal - David Savard
Philadelphia - Eric Johnson

+ maybe

NYI - Mike Reilly
Detroit - Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry, Olli Maatta
Ottawa - Travis Hamonic
Buffalo - Connor Clifton, Henri Jokiharju

From Western Conference Teams
Anaheim - Cam Fowler?? (unlikely), Brian Dumoulin, Urho Vaakanainen
Chicago - Connor Murphy??, Alec Martinez
Seattle - Jamie Oleksiak??, Josh Mahura, William Borgen
SJ - Cody Ceci, Jan Rutta,

+ maybe

Calgary - Rasmus Andersson?? (unlikely), Tyson Barrie
LA - Vladislav Gavrikov, Andreas Englund
Minnesota - Jacob Middleton, Zach Bogosian, John Merrill
St Louis - Nick Leddy, Ryan Suter
Utah - Ian Cole, Robert Bortuzzo
No disrespect, but you didn't do any research. Wild are easily a playoff team and gave a monster 5 year extension to Jacob Middleton before season started with full NMC. Bogo has two years extension, lol

For Bouchard? Ok.

Seriously though, what would Edmonton even be willing to offer? They don't appear to have much in the way of capital.
It's very true but Columbus seems to have no use for Jiricek. I imagine it ends in trade and I imagine the cost won't be as high as people would hope.

Thats a scary list, I could have used it for Halloween.

Mostly 5th - 6th defense

He did a quick look at the entire league and you take fault with 1 team....it seems like he did his research for the most part lol

Dobson stays....Isles put Pelech, Mayfield and Reilly on the market.
What would the cost be on Pelech and Mayfield. Separately, not as a package - we can't afford to add both.

Was Weegar extended by Treliving or Conroy? As for Andersson, I would trade him. His value is never going to be higher.
Andersson would be perfect in Edmonton. Unfortunately, there's no way Calgary trades him to us. After all of the arguing over whether Nurse or Andersson is better, we'd get to see them as a pair.

Detroit should trade for one. We have 5 bottom line defenders

No use for Jiricek seems quite a stretch. If Columbus wanted to move on from him (which there is no indication of), there is no reason for them to sell low. Many teams would have interest.

He's not playing in the AHL
He's not playing in the NHL

He's not playing hockey and this seems to keep happening to him.

Didn't say to sell low either.

Agree many teams would have interest.

Calgary might be set for the next decade if they decided to move both Weegar and Rasmus Andersson

Both are likely on the table for the right price. They'll want something big. The typical return of late 1st and a group of B level prospects won't do it.

Pens whole left side is likely available - Pettersson and Grzelcyk UFAs and Graves a bad fit with term

Bringing along a 20 year old slowly and having him not be over exposed or put in bad situations is not "no use"...

I sure hope that argument is not still ongoing because Edmonton fans are on one if so lol. I'm not sure they have the assets to acquire him even if the rivalry weren't a factor honestly, feel like they'll have to aim lower for a 2nd pairing guy
