I’m not defending his play. But I’m defending the player. Yes, he’s been very bad since November but I’m still supporting the player since he’s wearing our colors. It’s not a question of effort or heart with him. It’s a question of if his ability is deteriorating fast enough that he might not be a viable option next year.

Would much rather root for him to have an unlikely turnaround and help us in the final stretch.

To this topic though, it’s not the question that was problematic, but the goofy Twitter stuff. I assume that’s what Haula was referring to. I also think this isn’t as big of a deal as people are portraying it to be.

I dont think its a huge deal either, but what is so goofy about posting on twitter about how a guy doesnt have a point for 3 months? I just dont really see that as a big deal.

Lets break this down:

Stop moving goalposts

First two periods they dictated play and were the much better team

You said that statement was a lie

You are flat out wrong

You are allowed to say they played like crap in the 3rd period, they did, while acknowledging they were fine in the first two

But you lack humility for that

Be happy with the W

Touch some grass and try to enjoy your Sunday
Or smoke it.

I co-own a business (not hockey) that deals a lot with players and their evaluation.

There’s a level of professionalism / line crossing that I think people should be cognizant of and some of our reporters don’t always know where that is. It’s to get clicks / content but I’m also not going to blame players for going off on some of it.

Some dudes have been awful and they deserve criticism but theres ways to phrase it that don’t denigrate.

Haula has been ass, he should maybe do his job better granted he's probably still injured but pull yourself out of the lineup if you don't think you're capable. Nothing wrong with the tweet, only thing that's overboard is if you attack a player off the rink and say he's being lazy or doesn't care

but what lines are crossed by posting tweets with stats?

unless this reporter did more than that?

I also don’t know enough about what Anoia has said in the past, but the tweet about the millions of seconds since Haula scored a goal is snarky enough in its own way. Like I said before, I think by and large, our beat is full of newcomers who might not get the professional aspect when you have to deal with players on a daily basis. Instead, they’ll spout off anything on Twitter to engage with the fans there and assume it doesn’t crawl back to them in anyway.

Definitely have spilled enough ink on this for one day.

And the entire year our reporters do tweet out like teenagers in some aspects. So in a way, I understand but Hauls prob should have held back a tiny bit

Its a big whatever tho. Id rather be talking this than another loss lol

So what do we chalk today up to? A crappy flyers team? Or did the new guys actually provide a spark? Or was that spark due to the flyers
Keefe was very happy with how they played. Flyers are crappy but they do have a top 5 xGf in the entire league. They are always an annoying team to play, they just cant finish for shit, even worse than us

It was a good 2 periods, could have been 4-0. Then in the 3rd, they played good D but held back a bit. Then pushed play again in the last 5 mins and gave up nothing

Good road game. If they we’re safely in postseason positioning we’d be talking how this is a good away win without Jack.

Glass and Sprong were noticeably good too.

Domoulin did his job fine.

#44 was scary at times. Nemec may be back in Tuesday.

Allen was good and I would consider starting him Tuesday.

I'm sure it was mentioned in here but Keefe really took a shot at Cotter in the pregame.

Kinda liked it but hopefully it extends to guys like Haula when he gets off the intense heater he's been riding for like 9 hours now.

This is the borderline stuff that reporters don’t need to engage in. Does Haula deserve a ton of flack, yes. Is this type of post deserved, probably not. At least not from someone who covers the team in a professional capacity.

Okay that is a little much…but at least wait till you have more than one good game to chirp back lol

I think it's probably helpful to have four new guys in the lineup trying not to look like garbage in front of their new coach. That can be infectious, especially for a team full of sulking mopes who probably felt like the Dallas game was the beginning of the end. Some fresh blood might help with all the bad vibes this season.
