No--it doesn't take guts, balls courage whatever you want to say that this player is going to be better than that player. Maybe if you lived in Stalin's Russia in the late 40's and 50's and said something that was opposite of the party line that would take some moxie. No one is going to cart you away to a Siberian labor camp for 20 years or worse for saying Kreider is going to be more valuable than Stepan there may be some that don't agree with you but there's no harm done to anyone. I think that's what Chosen is trying to tell you and I suspect that most other people would understand that.
Well it's nice to know there is a certain courtesy we extend to each other.:naughty::laugh:

The call on Kreider was ahead of the curve.
That he will be more valuable than Stepan is radical. Advant gaarde.
That debate can start now. But it won't be a debate not too far down the road.

And yet, while of course I am not in fear of my physical safety, I am pilloried for telling the herd what I think.

As for the other post yes I was being facetious. But even as facetious a remark as I made was more realistic than the chimeras you're constantly chasing of the next best thing--the Hall's, the Kane's, the Nugent-Hopkins' and who gives a good **** about ****ing Burmistrov? What have any of these guys really accomplished? Ask me about other young players like Erik Karlsson or PK Subban and I'd might feel a little differently. I asked for truly elite NHL players now instead of the maybe elites of the future.
We should look at 'em all.

That's another thing I'm not sure you're quite getting--that the Rangers aren't chasing the future so much as trying to win a championship this year or in the next couple years and you're forever writing out 20 pages worth of deals that gut the team.

That is something most of the board and I disagree about.

Rangers are of course "taking a shot".
But they are better off if, while taking a shot, in case they get lucky, they add total talent and depth. THEN fine tune for chemistry.

Continue telling me your way is right.

I will prevail on the grounds we have an uphill climb w/at minimum, Anaheim, Kings, and especially Chicago.

Want to change that?
Have to gamble, take risk to add good prospects with good players for a great sacrifice. Then hope the seedlings of the extra assets acquired yield a plus.

But no, everybody wants to "win now" and not see Rangers do any of the hard work. Most wanna play it safe.

Safe is not usually a prevailing strategy.

Bernmeister--please don't call yourself avant garde if you can't spell it right. I don't think Kreider is ahead of Stepan--they are different kinds of players playing different positions. Stepan definitely thinks the game better than most players in the league. Kreider is gifted with some elite physical tools--for a hockey player--that does not mean he's going to be an elite player--but IMO Nash has elite physical tools--is an excellent player but not an elite one. The elite players are both gifted and able to think the game as they play it instinctually.

The Rangers will do what the Rangers always have done. They don't tank. The future is always the June coming up. Who wins the Stanley Pie. They look at Lundqvist figuring he is an X factor in whatever playoffs they make--that he can steal series and the Rangers have not neglected the future--they continue to develop and bring along young players.

And here's another thing about the only d-man you ever hang on to is McDonagh. Hall, Nugent Hopkins, Eberle and Yakupov are going to bang their collective heads against the wall forever in Edmonton because they might be stacked with offensive studs but their defense sucks and their goaltending isn't much better--year in and year out. Nothing is going to change in Edmonton until they fix their defensive problems. You'd gut the Rangers defense and turn us into the Oilers. Nobody is interested in that. Our chances are much better the way we're going.

It's called a typo.
Rest of this tom.

I believe I am the only one who forecast Kreider, based on potential was more valuable to NYR than Stepan.

I did this when he was a struggling prospect.

That took balls.

The outcome is a process which is not yet complete, but it looks like I pegged that one correct.

Ladies and Gentleman the bar on having a pair has been lowered precipitously.

Slower period for him. Hopefully he kicks it back up in the 2nd.
slow period for everyone really. that line really needs stepan to get more involved. The last few games i feel like zucc and kreider are the only forwards on that line

Nobody deserved a goal tonight more than Kreider.

Hopefully the beast has awoken.

His shots in the last 7-8 games have all been good shots that he normally would make he just had some really bad lucky. Now that he has gotten one i expect more goalsthe nest few weeks

We could REALLY use a spurt of goals for this roadtrip. We're not facing the toughest competition, but we need wins. Especially with NJ and Philly going on tears.

Im pretty confident the next 3 games. Boston will be tough but i feel we should have won the last game.

You clearly have no clue what balls means. Having balls means putting something on the line that you can lose. What could you have potentially lost?

Typing endless predictions is a waste of time and effort. I had real balls for saying that. Right?

I predict that some day we will put a space station on Jupiter. Does that take balls? or what.

Its value to the club that matters, not against each other.

Typo/misspelling does not disqualify if term applies.
Avant garde (alternate on the garde) is basically pushing the edge.
Not agreeing with the herd mentality just for the sake of agreeing.

You guys don't like it, but that is what I am doing.

I don't think Kreider is ahead of Stepan--
My wager for bragging rights w/BBG is as to who is more valuable.
That is somewhat subjective but the objective facts are moving into Kreider's corner, and I did say it would take at least a little time for him to surpass Derek, not just a few mere weeks.

they are different kinds of players playing different positions.
No argument.

Stepan definitely thinks the game better than most players in the league.
Ditto.

Mostly agree w/you, except IMO once Kreider has been around long enough, barring injury, he will move from solid contributor to pre-elite. After that, it remains to be seen. We understand, by elite, I mean Malkin = uber elite, Stamkos = elite. Sure there are a coupla others.

The Rangers will do what the Rangers always have done. They don't tank. The future is always the June coming up. Who wins the Stanley Pie. It is too many series to ask Hank to steal.
Keep a core, trade what you can for upgrade. If you need to discount multiple pieces to get the upgrade, you do it.

I respect your right to disagree with me and vice versa about who should be in that core and why, and what trades best accomplish upgrade of both level and quantity of talent compared to alternatives.

You are usually very polite and respectful, which I applaud. :handclap::yo:
Thanks.

But there a lot of people who can't accept disagreement.
What can I tell ya?!!

And here's another thing about the only d-man you ever hang on to is McDonagh.
Making my point. I am on record. Don't want coke for pepsi.
If MacKinnon is closer to Stamkos than Tavares, and it is a judgment call at this point but it is MO, and I admit I could be wrong on that (could turn out either way), but if so I could risk McD. However, even then, I want the kicker, I want Siemens also in the deal. Cheap.

Hall, Nugent Hopkins, Eberle and Yakupov are going to bang their collective heads against the wall forever in Edmonton because they might be stacked with offensive studs but their defense sucks and their goaltending isn't much better--year in and year out. We agree to disagree.
I want to build by obtaining a better asset.
We have promising guys on the farm, but we need another couple of positions with talent upgrade.
Have to give to get.
So D is our strong suit giving the most return.

Not that much to it.
Also, I like Connor Allen for sooner than later, Skjei for a cup of coffee next year, and McIlrath for bottom pair RD --- we could do a lot worse.

So converting Stepan + into Jones + would be fab if we could do it.
Yes, it's a gamble but it is reasonable.

Happy thanksgiving.
