i think hes got much more offensive skill than Lucic, but is nowhere near as intimidating. Lucic also is great in front of the net, kreider hasnt really shown that yet.

He's got such a weird skill set it's tough to figure where his career will go. Elite speed but built like a tank and an elite wrister...pretty good hockey sense too. its tough to say where this kid will end up. could have his number retired as a ranger, could be a good 3rd liner for the rest of his career...noway to know.

unique player fo-sho, just like Lucic.

Elite wrister? Still waiting for that one. I will be INCREDIBLY disappointed if he doesn't become more than a good 3rd liner, but that's a good floor if that's his floor.

I think you're slightly too concerned about his shot. He has a good shot, it's only a matter of time before he learns how to score in the NHL.

im talking strictly velocity.

It's like having a strong arm in the NFL. Accuracy is way more impressive. I never got why people say someone that has a cannon but can't hit the broad side of a barn has an "elite arm" and ditto why someone that can't hit the net but has a strong shot has an "elite wrister". Who cares how strong it is if he can't score? I mean unless he's a defenseman and provides rebound opportunities.

I mean, the one that hit the post is awesome. But I hope that "a laser" isn't your standard for elite shot. If it's a laser in the goalie's chest over the net, is it really elite?

He can learn to pick corners consistently in the NHL. Kreids has a great shot, the knock in the past is he never got or found himself in a position to use it, which is changing quite a bit this year. Go watch his 2012 playoff highlights to see that corner-picking laser, skill like that doesn't go away.

his wrister is a laser...kid just doesnt shoot enough.

If he has a problem, and I'm not saying he does, that's it. As one commentator put it, he's got a shot that could go thru the boards. Definitely a very good quality wrist shot.

I think this maybe the last part of his game he is over thinking a bit right now. He's missed several good chances by the narrowest of margins. It'll break any game now.

We're no where close to seeing what this guy will really do once he puts it all together.

He's been a beast for my fantasy team and a pleasure to watch as a rangers fan. To be completely honest the way he lays people out is unprecedented to anything I've seen in my 5 years of watching hockey. It's a compliment if he hasn't, but it makes me wonder if he's taken PEDs. That's how physically dominating he has been.

Good point. Bad assessment.

I can't say this guy will ever be a consistent 30 or 40 goal scorer, but it's absolutely not improbable. He's still not using his speed as well as he will down the road. More tactically, taking his man wide a bit more and opening things up. That will create better shooting opportunities right there. Seasoning will add to that even further.

Now that he's leveraging his size and strength, he's showing the last piece in the complete package, just not a combined whole. The scoring we saw in the play offs two years ago is the last piece. It will come.

This kid has a chance to be one of the truly unique players in professional hockey. We've seen big, strong power forwards, skilled ones, fast ones. He really does have a chance to put of all that together in one devastating package. Just an amazing turn around from him.

The HNIC announcers said Kreider explained his recent play by saying he was giving NHL players too much respect, and he just decided to stop doing that and to play more aggressively. You can def see where that switch flipped, cuz the dude is playing like a beast right now.

I like it. YOLO Kreider > Timid Kreider. His shooting % has to go up.

Kreider should really make a spot on the roster for USA at the Olympics. He is not scoring alot of points but that will surely come. He just make so much room for his linemates. I am willing to bet that he will make the Olympics. Its unbelievable that he was in the AHL just a few weeks ago. He is becoming NYR most important player

I thought he was the first star last night, high energy and a beast physically ask Emmelin

That is the point, he can score and he actually is accurate with his wrister. He needs to figure out how to use it in the pro game. Once he does, we will see some nasty snipes IMO.

Here's one example, Skip to 45 seconds in:

Some great players on that team. I forgot how young Pietrangelo was. Team USA was really good too.

What memories. Some of my favorite hockey ever. Hope to see some good hockey at the WJCs this year, but I don't even know what Americans we'll have there if any.

You seem way too concerned about Kreider's shot. I mean if he hits the post or doesnt score goals every game you think his shot stinks, The kid has a good shot and can score, he just has been a little snakebit right now. He has 10 points in 12 games. He has probably been our top forward in terms of his physicality and creating scoring chances for himself and his linemates. The goals will come. Its not realy an issue

Actually that post gave me more hope. It's just that even in the 2012 playoffs he had like 1 goal that was due to his shot but it should have been stopped. Nash last year looked the same to start the season. However Nash has a long history of being a good scorer. Kreider, I'm not sure yet.

You cant just look at scoring. You have to look at his entire game. For example last night he has 6 hits and was pretty much dominating The Montreal defensemen. Lets give him an entire season. Remember he is only technically a rookie.

I guess some peoples' definition of "elite" is more liberal than mine. Kreider does have a rocket of a wrister though. Hopefully with time his touch will get better and he'll be able to place it wherever he wants.

I think he's playing great. He's a game changer for the Rangers and is almost a PPG guy. I'm just greedy and want the goals too. :laugh:

That hit was a real highlight. Emelin is a big strong guy with a reputation for burying people with his hits and Kreider just knocked him over like a bowling pin.

Chris has been a bit unlucky in the goal scoring department. Seems he's hit several posts. A couple occasions where his own teammates inadvertently blocked shots that looked like they might go in.

He's playing great. Since his recall 12 straight games that he's played well. That's good consistency for anyone.

C'mon boys, get your hockey lingo straight:

Laser = Accurate
Rocket = Hard
