The Habs board really is pumped eh.

There's some trying to say their top 6 is on par or even better than ours lol Some also trying to say that Allen + Price is >>>>>> Andersen + Campbell.

While it's certainly arguable Price + Allen is the better duo (statistically the past three seasons, that's not the case, it's certainly not >>>>>>).

Thankfully, there are even some Habs fans arguing against that.

I think our forwards are better. They probably have the better core six D on paper (though, if Lehtonen looks as advertised, and Brodie-Rielly mesh well, even that is arguable) and the goaltending is a wash, as both Price and Freddy have tendencies to be unreal one game, and then shit the next, and both Allen and Campbell are solid backups.

A lot of Montreals fortunes are going to rely on Josh Anderson IMO (excluding goaltending). If he has a crap year, they arent going very far.

I didn't like the Habs to begin with, but I've come to loathe them even more given how inexplicably overhyped they've become. They overperformed for most of last year and still finished 24th in the league - Toffoli was a good acquisition, and they made a couple other solid moves, but they also lost Domi and Weber's a year older. They're still pretty safely a bottom 10 team in the league, and people are acting like they're contenders.

Looking forward to beating up on that underwhelming team all season, provided the boys show up to play!

I get thinking their defense and goaltending is better, but they seem to think we barely have better forwards and they crush us in the other categories. There two best scorers each got one goal then Zack Hyman. The edge between the top 6 is more vast then anything else.

Should be a fun game though.

I know we're not the most rational bunch, but Montreal has to have the most delusional fanbase in the league going into this season. Their roster doesn't even look like a playoff team in a regular year and they're talking like they're favorites to come out of the division.

Can't wait to watch reality sink in.

In no way do I want to pump Montreal's tires, but they will be a competitive team this year.

The two question marks that I have about the Habs is who will score goals and how Nick Suzuki will respond to the sophmore campaign. Otherwise, their team is full of competitive wingers that will hit and play tight defensively.

The Leafs have far more skill in terms of pure talent. Their defense should be significantly improved with TJ Brodie just playing average defensively at the least (improvement over Barrie) and Bogosian playing marginally better than Ceci.

Leaving Robertson off this team reminds me of when the Canucks benched Boeser in the opener of his rookie year. Coaches think too much and always defer to the vets. zzzz

who would you scratch in favour for him? Vesey looked pretty good. Thornton isn't getting scratched. Soupman is playing, and Barabanov can kill penalties. His best bet is Kerfoot isn't in the line up.

Hard to believe hockey is just around the corner. This is incredibly strange feeling.

Not the same without fans, of course, or without the tailgating in front of the ACC, or without the Highlanders playing their bagpipes. Without those things the atmosphere around the opening game is not the same. Just lamenting those things, it is still exciting considering all the circumstances around.

I like to play the kids as much as the next guy but Robertson isn’t a fulltime NHLer yet. Best case when the AHL starts up again he plays big minutes there.

I was under the impression that Lehtonen would make our opening night top 6, no?
Yes sire, I'm like bout that and with you sire. But the other guy op there on the thread said he won't be and what happens to our other fools on the PP2 if Lehtonen ain't in the lineups? But yeah it surely sounds that Lehtonen will be there and coach keefe (not coach koala) likes the sucka a lot. Very interested to see how much he can bang that scoring up here in the nhl now.

>Our maple leafs will crush those jelious canadiens for treal  We have the offensive talent, speed and now even strength and honor since simmonds, big joey and bogosian (bogostick) arrived. We HAVE EM ALL! Paid in full too and others might be jelious, but don't be alarmed no no not at all. Let them hate on a heta and be not real like us are the realest ones. Everybody want to be like us. Like word on the streets lately has been like: "Have you seen the vet lineup toronto now has no? Like they have matthews, marner and nylander and tavares combined to all of those hard vets." The other man said: "I wanna be like them."
The other guy said: "I want to change my uniform and be like the blue and white maple leafs"
The other mama said: "I want that for life."
The other man said: "I just want the entertainment and the maple leafs give that the most."
They are so jelious, but don't be alarmed.

Overperform = two 8 game losing streaks and losing every game vs Detroit

The thing with Montreal is a lot of unsustainable things have to go their way for 56 games to get in. Is it impossible? No ofcourse not. But realistically it's not likely to happen.

The lack of elite forwards in lineup is a hole too big to overcome. Their saving grace is they are extremely fortunate to be in this crap Canadian division. They very well may pull it off lmao.

Honestly the west is pure shiit and the central has Tampa sure and Carolina is comparable to Toronto but besides that they have a bunch of middling playoff/bubble teams like the Canadian teams and more shitty teams (2-1)

Leafs v Habs...and so it begins.

Luck, injuries, 'their' goalie playing lights out aside, if our best play to their abilities and the rest play with intensity and smartly, we're a contender to go all the way. Dubas has given us our best D in years, a goaltending duo that should be better than last year, a group of forwards that is more varied and experienced - while still being wonderfully talented - and we have the potential of adding at the TDL. Keefe has showed some flexibility, the players appear to like him, he's setting a tone of accountability (Engvall), and he has depth to work with. It's now up to the players.

Here's to a great season folks :partytime: Go Leafs Go!

We'll have to see how it all plays out but man this is a golden chance for Toronto. I'm really not expecting a lot but I hope they have realised the uniqueness of this upcoming season and put their best foot forward from game 1 on.

Habs have actually have a decent squad on Paper.

They're also a relentless team on offense. They dont stop skating

Chiarot, Weber, Petry and Edmundson....thats a Big and Physical defense.

They're a complete wildcard to me. They're a hard working team that could embarrass you on any given night if you don't come ready to play, but the talent just hasn't been there in recent years. If Price has a good year and some of their forward acquisitions can score, then they'll be competitive. If not, they won't and neither would really surprise me.

Habs fan in peace here

Except the same 15 people on our board , people know we were gonna end up 25-28th in the standings before covid.
The same team that lost 4 times against Detroit the worst team on ice in the last 20 years.
Bergevin went all in because of this special season where we play a full canadian division.

Ottawa should be bad again , it's Ottawa after all.
Edmonton got no goalies and no D (They lost to Chicago el oh el )
Calgary will be a decent team overall
Winnipeg d-squad is probably the worst in the league by far.
Vancouver have some nice pieces but filled with 3-4th liners who wins 3m-4m a season
You guys are the best team overall on all sides.

That's why habs fan are ''rational'' because they know the division is awful and the only one with 7 teams.

Oh well , I can't wait to watch hockey because staying at home for a year with no sport is boring so im glad we can watch all hockey together

Be careful everyone and stay safe and have fun watching this hockey season!
<3 <3 <3

Maybe we will finally meet in the playoffs against eachother like back then.
