He’s an AHL player at best IMO
I sort of agree I’ve seen him a lot the only thing that makes him interesting is his skating which is really good, he is so fast his skating is NHL level IMO and he is ace penalty killer so perhaps that’s his path to league. He would be good addition to AHL though.

We were running out a Kid Line of Strome, Nelson and Lee that season, IIRC. As soon as they went cold Cappy would break them up, put Strome at center and Lee on a wing, flip them back in the middle of a game. It’s a wonder Nelson and Strome knew what day it was back then. I think Capuano’s tinkering hurt Ryan Strome the worst.

To be fair, you try and win anyway you can with the team you are given. Would be interesting to know what Capuono thought about having an underdeveloped Ryan Strome on the team.

I don't know what he thought but between the position changes and the benchings I'd say Cappy didn't think he was getting enough out of Ryan Strome.

its the AHL: I don't get wrapped over it. Evident the isles gotta restock the cupboard soon

It doesn't matter what is in the cupboard, if it is in Bridgeport , it rots. BST have been the worst AHL team in the last 20 years. They haven't won a playoff round since 02-03.

Now that the NYI organization has been overhauled and established a winning culture, it's about time Bridgeport is gutted and built from scratch.

I don’t buy that nonsense, perennial successful organizations are winners at every level.
Is that true though? A quick look at the past 15 years and both Ice Hogs and Monarchs were pretty miserable teams while the Hawks and Kings were winning cups, respectively. And the Baby Pens were pretty good while the Pens were winning cups. Looking further back, the River Rats were good in the mid 90s and then bad from 98-99 through when they ended their Devils affiliation in 2006 which included two cups and a finals appearance, meanwhile the Hershey Bears were a pretty good team when the Avalanche were winning their cups. Doesn't seem to be much correlation between between AHL team's results and the same for their parent team.

Yes they do, they would do well to take more shots at “free” NCAA and CHL overagers.

You are absolutely right about this!

100%

Of course, it's hard to do that when you've already dished out 48 or 49 of your 50 contracts, which is the current case for our Isles.

A lot of guys who play no real and sufficient role in the franchise are on the books.

A lot of these contracts would start next year, and they would just be on PTO/ATOs for 2020-21. Contract space isn't an issue.

With respect to Bridgeport, I wonder if the plan will be to sign and bring Iskhakov over next season or if they will let him play another year in Liiga? I haven't seen anything specific, has anyone else heard anything?

Well, as long as enough contracts are coming off the books this summer.

The only UFAs in the entire system are Cizikas, Greene, Schneider, Jobst, Fritz, and Bardreau.

There are also 10 RFAs. Naturally, we could walk away from a few, but I'm thinking the only real candidates for that are Ho-Sang, Tymashov, Carpenter, and Greer.

For the record, there are plenty of guys in college, the CHL, and Europe who I'd love to see us add to the organization.

I believe that, since he has left college, he'll need to be signed.

I could be wrong. He may now have the same status/stipulation that allowed us to wait so long to sign Salo.

But I think he can be signed and then loaned out, which would mean he doesn't eat a year of that ELC. That's my understanding of it.

again, 10 picks the past 2 seasons isn't gonna give you much to work with

Maybe im way off here, but i think this is a draft that would be worth picking up as many mid round picks as possible. Alot of these guys havent had much of a chance to broadcast their skills and worth. Maybe we get lucky and snag a couple of bluechip prospects.

i don't think that our prospect base is that bad. not in the top 20, but not brutal, like implied here.

let's face it, just like stock market analysts say, "past performance is not indicative of future performance".

there are some kids that look great as a prospect, and fail miserably when in the bigs. and vice-versa. what i'm more focused on, is how young our core is, and how the team is doing.

26 and under: Barzal, Beau, Wally, Pelech, Pulock, Dobson, Sorokin. aided by Pageau (28) and Nelson (29). that's almost half the players on the team.

honestly, i think that we are in position to at least be competitive for a while.

sure, we don't have a lot of highly skilled prospects, but the reason for that, is that we've been pretty good in the NHL (aka, low draft picks). we do seem to be awash in pretty good middle line types. gritty, character types. we need them. maybe more than fluffy, skilled types, like Bailey and Eberle.

Well it also is a crapshoot draft
