I wasn't really high on our prospect pool...but man, a lot of them look good.

I think Koivula is ready to make the step.

Koivula looks like the light bulb went on over his head this year. Last season he looked like he mailed it in. I realize it was a throwaway year in the AHL, 24 games against Providence and Hartford with no playoffs, but Otto was awful. But he’s been engaged and willing since his recall. What a difference!

Big guys like him can take a while, hopefully he’s starting to find footing, is there a spot for him at the NHL level though? Not sure, especially if the team is dead set on him being a center.

Bellows broke USA scoring records. Dufour if he makes the isles one day will be a 4th line plug most likely lol. Just seems how it goes around here.

That was a single tournament, he was barely over a PPG (1.04) in a lesser league (USHL) and barely half a PPG in college.

he scored 50 goals for the USDP and 40 goals in the WHL in under 60 games. That’s pretty prolific for juniors.

Craig Button once called Bellows the best sniper at the WJC. What happened?

I watched him. His shot was hard and heavy as hell. I thought he’d be a sure fire 25+ goal guy easily. Reminded me of a lefty Okposo with a better shot.

Button (pre draft) said Wallys shot and release reminded him of Bossy and Ovi. That’s just unreal praise. Wally I do think can still be a big time scorer. He was my favorite player in the draft and I was ecstatic when we got him. He needs to be more selfish and try to create more for himself. I think Trotz emphasis on defense is important but I think young players get intimidated or afraid to take some chances in his system because of he’s a stickler for playing “the right way”. Sometimes you have to let a guy play to his strengths too.

Isles need to draft better, would like a focus on more speed and skill, if the player has size and attitude, all the better.

Not that it would change the season but if we took McMichael over Holmstrom it would have helped. Our center depth is horrible. McMicheal would have been playing center instead of Parise.

Love the Raty pick but if he pans out we’re a couple years away from him helping.

Can't complain about him being the 11th pick, I would have picked Dobson at 11th. ;) The late goal should give him confidence. He wanted to be a difference maker tonight. @PWJunior would be proud. We may finally start seeing him live up to his promise. I always said once he got it, there would be no turning back. Wally is a pure shooter, he's found a spot on the PP. I am not entirely happy with his 200 ft game this season, but he is one of only a few Isles that is a natural scorer. That gives him value. On the Holmstrom front, I hope he has turned the corner. I was not happy the Isles passed on Tomasino and McMichael for him. You had Tomasino as our pick. Hope he proves me wrong there.

Haha. I wrote about McMichael not knowing you did above my post. I still don't know how the Isles scouts did not pick him? Maybe the London scout was sleeping that year?
