You should stop watching your phone and start watching the game, sure if you only watch replay of Habs goals you're seeing only the good , and sorry but i love Kayden Guhle but he as not progress att all, how can he in this system less kind of hockey, same for Arber, Barron and Harris, please leave Mailloux where he is
You should start learning the difference between playing against second liners and playing against firsts. It’s a lot harder to defend against.

I have to agree with the serpent who appears on the sick pod cast. We don't have any cornerstone or franchise players to build around we still need to draft top 3 again. Basically I don't believe we are a stanley cup contending team with Caufield and or Nick Suzuki on our 1st line.

I think Slaf can be a 1st line player who will compliment Elite talent.

I also think Dach has a higher ceiling then Suzuki.

But gentlemen we need to draft some bona-fide elite franchise caliber players if we ever want to win a cup

Yeah but we've been saying this for years , and we get accused of ruining the culture of greatness and prosperity and winning montreal hockey in the 21st century :laugh:

That person may be right. But it’s too early for him or anyone to know. I firmly believe CC will be a 50 goal guy. There’s one potential star. Hutson is crushing every record in sight. That’s two. Roy has done nothing but overachieve. Slaf is a bit of a mystery but you have to love how he’s improving- he could wind up being a star as well. Or maybe none of them live up to expectations.

Superstars are not always obvious from the get go. A lot of people thought Price was a bad pick at first. Subban wasn’t an obvious superstar either. But both emerged as top talents.

We have a whack of really good prospects. We’ve accumulated a ton of talent some of which can and will be used as trade currency. Top pick this year, two firsts next year.

We’re two years into a rebuild and already have a stacked blueline for the future. Honestly I don’t get how people aren’t more excited by what we’re doing.

I was the most negative poster on these boards for years. Now we’re finally doing things the right way and people are upset? I really don’t get it.

We may have some star potential but we dont have that elite franchise talent you need to win a cup ( I understand there are some exceptions to the rule) but the majority of teams need an elite franchise talent to win.

You don’t know this and neither do I. I just gave you four players who could become stars. Again, maybe none will but it’s too early to know. Plus we have a high first this year and two firsts next year. It’s a work in progress. We might come away with Eiserman or Lindstrom this year…

CC is not developing nicely. His production is worst than last year and he is not playing as good as he should.
Ghule is stagnating as well. Zero improvement from last year.

Slaf and Roy are developing although if we are being honest Slaf has been a dissapointment for a 1st overall.

Hutson has not turned pro yet so too early to tell.

I just don't think things are going very well for the rebuild. Haven't been impressed by the draft either.

Caufield’s production is identical, he just has fewer goals.

Ridiculous. Chicago won Cups without a franchise talent. Toews and Kane were not franchise players. Just as Celebrini isn't. I agree with C Button that he is a player you build around but not a superstar. If you have a 2nd line as good as the Suzuki line and a top end group of defensemen and a very good goaltender you can win more than one Cup.

Auston Matthews peaked at 24 (his 60 goals season)

Alex Ovechkin peaked at 22 when he scored 65 goals.

Steven Stamkos had his best year at 22.
Stamkos had 106 points two years ago, Matthews is on pace for 71 goals this year at 26 l. Ovi definitely had his best years 22-25.

The thing is, Caufield was injured into the start of this year, and I can find you a lot of players who found their games well after 22.

Sorry oh all knowing wise one but I’ll rely on my own opinion after watching hockey for over 40 years and quite a few ex nhl players that don’t like what there seeing right now with this team,is that you Stu :naughty:

Yeah, you've watch hockey for 40 years......you should then be on the list for next GM.
But here,s the thing you don't seems to get : You are not watching the team as it was built, not even close. You're the proof that Habs fans are not close to be ready for a rebuild

I do agree. However, I think some more high end talent will be acquired with all the assets that they have and will have. Building a team with solid goaltending and structure is more important than having 1 superstar. Of course, that would be nice if you can draft him. There are teams that have won without elite talent. St Louis didn’t have a ppg player or 40 goal man that year.
