He isn't ready for the NHL. He showed close to zero defensive awareness on the NHL level.

I don't even think it's that. They have enough forwards with one-ways and they view Barzal as a center. Part of the reason Beauvillier made the team is that he can play basically anywhere.

That would not only be a hit in terms of value for the Habs, but also make their dire need for a scoring winger even greater. I think the Isles would do this out of pure value, but I doubt many would be too happy about moving arguably their best d-man for a winger.

Isles would not trade their #1 defenseman, signed for six more seasons for a forward, signed for three more years. Value would be there if Pacioretty was signed for longer. Probably would still make the Isles extremely reluctant to trade Leddy.

Not the answer to our defensive woes.

de Haan's our best defensive defenseman and makes his partners better. That's not an answer to defensive woes? Am I missing something? (that's not meant to be sarcastic or insulting, it's really just a question).

No idea what the Islanders can do outside of including a roster forward and a good prospect. Even then I can't think of a player that's been rumored to be available that fits the criteria that the Islanders need. It would have to be creative and a deal no one saw coming...not sure I want Snow making a move like that, to be honest.

JVR is one, if not the best trade chip that we have. Our primary need is a top pairing (or top 4) right handed age appropriate defenseman. Obviously JVR doesn't get it done on his own, we'd need to add some assets to JVR but I wouldn't want to part with JVR to land CDH - no offense.

Kulemin
Bailey
Beauvillier
Prince

LW is hardly a position of need (and yes I know JVR is better than all of those guys)

There's no chance the Islanders move Leddy for Pacioretty. This isn't fair value for NYI.

What are NYI fans' thoughts on Pulock? Any interest in a deal surrounding Komarov/JVR for Pulock (with appropriate +s)?

Toronto needs help on the right side in the worst way.

I wouldn't move him for almost anything. It'd have to be someone like Tyler Toffoli.

Doesn't that seem a bit insane though? Toffoli is an established young top 6 forward while he hasn't accomplished anything.

Isles actually have a lot of pieces I'd be interested in if they really wanted Pacioretty.

Nelson, Beauvillier, Leddy, Strome, Barzal, MDC, CDH, Pulock, etc.

Burrows could be an option.

He has played both wings in years past and is in the final year of his deal and VAN badly needs to start offloading guys like him and recoup pics/prospects

Shouldnt cost much either

Sharks would probably do Nieto or Wingels for a 3rd or maybe 2 later round picks. Nieto is better cap-wise, but Wingels is more useful.

Karlsson is a solid all-around guy, good for 20+ primary points at 3rd line minutes. Can play against 1st line competition if needed. He could likely be had for a good pick and B/C prospect.

Tierney we'd need a solid prospect in return, could be willing to add. Would consider first or early second.

From the Jackets it's hard to think of anything. The team is playing well so no big moves can be made with the Isles.

I'd consider a Barzal - Bjorkstrand swap. Both guys were ranked similarly in recent prospect discussions. Bjorkstrand will likely be back scoring goals at the NHL level this year (which the Isles need at RW), and the Jackets need more center prospects.

Wait wait wait. They signed PAP in the off-season, waive him, lose him to waivers, then send Barzal down to the WHL, and now are looking at acquiring a forward? Someone give Snow one of those fake Playskool phones so he can't make any more bad decisions.
