Lmao if you learned to read you’d see if it were up to the islanders, they wouldn’t wear any special warmup jerseys. they only wear those due to it being league mandated. Other special event warmup jersey like pride are not league mandated. If the cancer, military, and at pattys were not League mandated, the islanders would not partake

Blame the nhl for mandating some, not all of the warmup jerseys if you have an issue with it.
I don't have an issue with it its just a joke learn to take one i could care less about some warmup jerseys yeah the nhl mandated all the other ones so replace islanders FO with nhl FO if its that much of an issue

Lou be like..

not my point, but you might want to reevaluate your definition of 'everyone'

I don't have to.. I'm not the one who came up with the "hockey is for everyone" slogan. Plus, I think when people hear that slogan and from context understand no one is wanting to be inclusive of groups that are actively against the human rights and inclusion of people based on ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc.

God am I ever tired of these stories. About time people are fed up with the rainbow getting shoved down our throats.

At this point in time, 99.9% of people couldn’t care less if you have sex with a man or woman. 20 years ago it was a big deal but at this point everyone is desensitized to it. Those that do have a problem with it are caught up in their ways and won’t be changing their minds at any point in their lives. Why we need to “celebrate” people’s preferred choice of sexual partners makes no sense to me.

THIS is the reason more awareness is needed.

Certain people equate gay = sex act.

News flash homie .. they eat breakfast, go to work, movies, hockey games, pay bills, raise families together just like hetero couples.

its not about celebrating a persons sexual preference and its not "shoved down your throat". You with the way you view the world through your hate filled lens view it as that.

The Islanders shouldn't have a policy against this in the first place!

Being inclusive cant be bad for business

It's not a specific policy against this event - it's for all non-league mandated warm up jerseys.

Lou also was anti-3rd jersey during his time with the Devils and (I believe) only relented with the Islanders when the league mandated it. I also think he still has a policy against facial hair.

I understand!

It just seems silly to be against non-mandated events! All it does is bring unwanted attention such as this

Also being inclusive (or celebratory) has never been bad for business! Lou is just an ancient man living in a modern world

God forbid anyone and everyone doesn't wave the flag at any and every instance.

Bigots and phobes everywhere I say!
Intersectionality. You give me the man, I'll show you the thought crime.

I'm pro just about everything within reason (from the premise of, you do you, I'll do me) but at the same time I refuse to be a billboard or pawn against my will.

This league can be exhausting. And for the most perfunctory gesture imaginable. All while Gary Bettman sneers about the need to accept "different views" when it comes to equality.

for me this is a non starter

I am a leftie--but stuff like this is all about freedom of choices and personal rights. The other couple of times this came up and certain people went batspit crazy. I did not see a problem with an individual or organization now wanting to get involved in a hot button situation.

Mods can delete the next statement (please do not give me an infraction) but let me put a twist on something

Say if League X wants to host a Pro-life night or say a religious organization night? And someone or organization did not believe or did not think it was their job to support that night, refused or did not want participate in that function? Most people upset the NYI or a player does not want to wear LGBTQ+ would back their rights not to support the pro life or religion organization.

It is a two way street and I think by dogging people or organizations for not being bullied into doing something is just wrong. Freedom of choice is a lovely two way street.

But, like I said, I am left winger and I can see and understand why this is a hot topic button and why some people just want not to get involved or believe they are being bullied into doing something.
Freedom of choice has never been freedom from criticism.

Yet there never seems to be an issue with someone having to wear military themed shit for the military nights. Why the issue on one and not the other?

Maybe because it's not nearly the 99.99% you think it is and there's still a huge problem in society and this sport in supporting and being inclusive of people who aren't white and straight.
I'm pretty sure you are clueless about the type of things that were allowed to happen to the LGBTQ+ community 20 to 30 years ago. Contrast that to now and it's a massive difference. People will never be 100% accepting of any ideology but today on this issue there is a vast majority that is. For those who aren't that is their right living in a free society. What you are waiting for requires a totalitarian regime to take rights and artificially make 100% consensus.

But I guess that also won't be enough to satiate people that demand that all players bend the knee and wear the rainbow.
Exactly. It's nice they are making donations still, but nope that won't be enough for some people. We must force everyone's believes on everyone or CaNcEL!!!

Rangers did the same thing a few weeks ago, a dozen loud people cried about it for awhile, and then everyone moved on.

It's what happens when you have the oldest boy from the old boys club running the show. Time for him to be put out to pasture.

This? is the reason why you think Lou should be put out to pasture?
Yep…. Lou doesn’t celebrate LGBTQIA+ the way I want it to be celebrated, so let me make an ageist remark about him.

Alright did everyone pick a side for their pointless outrage on a pointless topic yet or are we still figuring that out?

I'd love to know the last time a straight person was made fun of or had death threats targeted at them for their sexual preference. No one was is celebrating "gay pride", it's just maybe helping that one youth or adult who thinks hockey can't be a safe space for them by allowing them a night. You're right that it's not as taboo as once was but they're still a ways to go for the LGBT to feel safe in most communities today.
