Parayko will cost too much in a trade I think. Would you be ready to do Pulock+Ho-Sang for Parayko? That could be the price. And I'm not even sure the Blues would say yes to this.

Interesting. Would think Nelson would have to be on the move. Potentially another winger too. Maybe in a separate trade for a Defensman?

I didn’t think we’d be necessarily looking to improve the top6 forwards.

Not without moving another LW out, there is already a logjam at LW.

Well I think it's about get Lou's type of players. And I don't see someone like Nelson being one of those guys. Not saying Skinner is, but if Nelson can be shipped to get a "Lou guy" (even if a forward) and then trade someone like Lee for a D-man, well that is what you're going to see.

This is the first time Lou isn't doing a total rebuild where you just keep hoarding draft picks/prospects...You're probably going to see a few veteran player deals where Lou can create the team he wants. He already did it behind the bench...Now he's going to do it on the ice.

The Skinner blurb is in here. Also says the Grubauer price is heating up with Chicago and Ottawa (who would be willing to move Craig Anderson) as other teams in the mix.

Also SN’s mock has us landing Boqvist and Hayton. Quite a haul.

Don’t know if I want to get into a bidding war for Grubauer. Unless we use the 12th to drop back once or twice and recoup some more picks and use that to get creative with a trade package.

In Lou I trust though. And if Trotz is on board with getting Grubauer then that has to count for something I would think.

GOALIES:

I cannot overstate what a mistake I think it is to trade a 1st round pick for Grubauer (or any other goalie, but an elite one).

Why?

Well first of all I don't think Grubauer is a Cup caliber goalie. That along with the fact that you have to see the 2019 UFA goalie class. It's potentially amazing. Take a look:

https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/free-agents/2020/caphit/all/goalies/ufa

The best thing to do is to find a short-term solution in net that doesn't cost much and then go all in on one of those UFA options next summer.

Amazing? The majority of that list is uninteresting.

I don't have much interest in Rinne, Fleury, Smith, Howard, Mason, Elliott, Neuvirth, Miller...so I'm not really sure who you're getting excited about there.

There’s no point in trading Pulock for Parayko. The goal would be to have both Pulock and Parayko on the ice for 40 min a night combined.

Aside from leaving Bobrovsky and Varlamov off the list, if you wouldn't want Fleury then not sure what to say.

That said, I proposed my solution in net. What's yours?

Agreed, I think Pulocks ceiling is definitely what Parayko is now or higher. Parayko is the more proven guy but I still believe in Pulock, he has incredible potential.

They could move Nelson, then shift Beauvillier back to center if they trusted him enough.

I like Beauvillier with Barzal.

This sequence of events would really upgrade the bottom six.
  1. Get rid of Nelson (we can all agree on that), maybe add a sweetener like a 2nd + Prospect in a deal for Skinner, or just trade Nelson for a pick and parlay that into a deal for a top flight D
  2. Sign a true 3C who is better at center then Nelson - see UFA's Filpulla, Ryan, Letustu, Nash
  3. Sign Michael Grabner
It's a harder working, faster bottom 6.

I wonder if Korn really is coming over to be goalie coach, if there hasn't already been discussion about whether Lehner is a potential option as a UFA instead of trading assets for Grubauer? Lou now has THE best inside info on Grubauer.

Thanks for posting. I like that mock draft since I'm kind of hoping for Boqvist and Hayton, and I also am intrigued by Denisenko who he has going 13th. I'm going to re-post that link in the draft thread, so thanks again.

I wonder if the 11 or 12 pick goes to Washington for Grubauer, with minimal else returning; Is the high price because of some deal that Lou worked out for Washington to allow Trotz to leave?

But the thing is, how many of these guys will be re-signed and not available next year? Probably quite a lot of them. UFA lists for next year will always look better than for this year.

I’m willing to bet the top tier guys, who will all be north of 30yrs old, will be extended by their clubs.

Don't at all agree with selling Rinne short. He'd be the best goalie we've had in years if he came here.
