This move REEKS of desperation.

Are the Isles not in a desperate position though? They are in serious danger of not making the playoffs. Lambert had to go. I don't know if Roy is the right move here. But I do like that they brought someone in from the outside.

Hard to fault the Isles here when the team simply has 3rd period brain fog all year and Lambert hasn't done much of anything to clear their heads.

Like when he fired Trotz only to hire poor man’s Trotz? That was a dumb move right from the start.

Trotz was going to end up in NSH as the GM and Lamoriello didn’t want to risk losing Lambert (who was being interviewed by multiple NHL teams).

Obviously Lambert was the wrong call, but that’s why he fired Trotz, it was more of a favor than anything.

Again, I'm not convinced that Roy is the right guy here. However, you know he's going to have the respect of every player from day 1. For a mid-season hire, for a team that you could argue lost the respect of the last head-coach, hiring a HOFer like Roy is a great move. We will see how it pans out.

This is either gonna work or it's not gonna work. By that, I mean it could be either a Hindenburg explosion or a completely genius move. I think it's one or the other. I don't see an in-between. Whatever happens, something HAD to be done. This team wasn't going anywhere.
