Is this the worst NHL lineup we've seen since.... ??

They play the best lineup ever put together in the New York Rangers next month. Guess that will be a 20-0 blowout.
I assume you were being very sarcastic, but this Rangers roster was the best on paper, only for them to miss the playoffs! (Jagr late addition, Lindros injured)

I think it's ugly but it's what Hawks fans should want. Get the best available prospect out of this season. Bedard is great... and the team was playing well enough before the injuries but you don't want to be a team that is good enough to miss out on a top prospect but bad enough to miss the playoffs.

The Blackhawks were not playing well before the injuries. They were basically guaranteed to be bottom 3 regardless and put themselves in a good spot going into the lottery again. The injuries just makes them even less watchable.

This is how I'd chalk up the 18 skaters playing today if they were on basically any other team, one that wasn't openly tanking and trying to be somewhat remotely competitive, even if not successful:

Forwards:

Dickinson - third line center
Kurashev - third line winger
Donato - fourth liner
Blackwell - plug/13th or 14th forward/possible waiver fodder
Entwistle - plug/13th or 14th forward/possible waiver fodder

Reichel - Sent down/AHLer
Guttman - Call up/AHLer with healthy lineup

R. Johnson - waiver fodder
Katchouk - waiver fodder

Sanford - waiver fodder/AHLer
Pitlick- AHLer
Seney - AHLer

Defense:

Vlasic - rookie, solid 2nd pair defensive defenseman
Murphy - #5 defenseman

Tinordi - plug/7th defenseman/possible waiver fodder
Zaitsev - plug/7th defeseman/possible waiver fodder

Korchinski - assigned back to Juniors

Megna - waiver fodder/AHLer
Note that this isn’t me doing the hfboards thing where people call any below average roster player an “AHLer” but a more honest and holistic assessment of what these players would be like if they were on a typical mediocre nhl franchise, that takes into account normal nhl injuries that teams go through and such, and without any real consideration towards contracts.

there's something amusing about a 4th liner on a team that bad literally being named Rem

Since who? Help me out

Expansion Sens or Sharks??
I opened the thread not expecting anything that bad since many of these alarmist-titled threads don't live up to the hype.

But yeesh, that is bad. I can't really think of any teams in recent memory with a worse lineup.

2008-09 New York Islanders vs Vancouver Canucks on Nov 17. Keep in mind, this was the year they got to draft granola boy:

Nah.

That 2008 Isles team would destroy this Blackhawks lineup.

I’m not too sure about that one unless by destroy you mean Tim Jackman breaking someone’s face and Jon Sim throwing a tantrum and running for the hills when getting sent down.

Wow ! That's pretty bad. Give it time.

All this line up needs is more expansion teams.

No offense to those Chicago players who are all very talented hockey players in the grand scheme of things, but it's a professional embarrassment to lose to that roster. You have to take a good, long look in the mirror if you're the Flames after that atrocity.

You're either too young to have watched the 08-09 Isles, simply misremembing or just being alarmist about how bad they were.

Yeah, they were bad, but there were some NHL quality players like Striet, Martinek, Nielsen, Sutton, Okposo and even old Weight/Guerin.

This Blackhawks lineup is literally AHLers.

It's not even a contest. Get real.

What?! But everyone talks about how seismically inferior players were in older eras, that they were all eating ropes of sausage and chugging beer while puffing on stogies! How can you possibly believe your average, even sub-par, hockey player today with all the modern advantages of nutrition and training wouldn’t crush the milk cartons of yesteryear!?

:sarcasm:
Well… you saw what happened to bedard. Same with any team today really. The lack of physicality is what’s causing injuries imo.

Not to pile on but that roster reminds me of that unlicensed "Fighting Baseball" game that was released in Japan that had to use made up "American sounding" names. Who could ever forget the immortal Bobson Dugnutt? Who wouldn't want someone named Mike Truk on their roster? And I mean any roster in any sport!

Sleve McDichael, Karl Dandleton, and Kevin Nogilny (nee Moginy) are your starting forwards.

People worked out how most of those names were derived. I forget the methodology... essentially they are all combinations of two real players plus some mistranslation. Bobson Dugnutt partially derived from goalie Ron Tugnutt. Kevin Nogilny from Alexander Mogilny. Scott Dourque from Phil Bourque.

One guess who Frank Dawerchuk was inspired by?
