This current team is polarizing -- I'll say that. Overall, yes, they are likeable, but they are also frustrating. However, the biggest issues are:
1. Our roster is flawed. Half our cap is tied up in 4 finesse forwards -- so far it's proven to be impossible to win anything significant with that model. This isn't on the players, it's on the management.
2. Our best young players still don't demonstrate that they hate losing. There's a huge difference between "wanting to win" and "hating to lose." I think our players want to win, but some of them still don't hate to lose. I believe the young kids think they still have their entire careers ahead of them and don't have a sense of urgency. To me, a sign of this was the way they lost puck battles, lacked hustle at times, and weren't emotionally prepared to play with fire.
It will wake one significant move that rebalances the team, followed by a couple of strategic depth additions, more maturity, and perhaps a new coach, to make the Leafs a beloved team. Right now they are polarizing.
