This would have been accepted had she been good. But she's not. Yet she's still there, which suggests preferential treatment based on gender.

This whole situation bothers me because they are trying so hard to be politically correct no matter what. It just stinks!

Hughson is the least smelly of the piles of dogshit they had left.

You're badly misreading the situation. I agree that she's not very good, but that's how systemic discrimination is justified and prohibits diverse talent from emerging. It's especially naive to say that male commentators wouldn't last long if they weren't good. Especially on Canadian broadcasts where terrible commentators won't make a dent in the ratings. Hockey broadcasting is pretty much a master class in failing up.

Trying to attract talent from new sources is good viewers, even if it's painful in the short term.

she's tough to listen to, annoying voice, weird cadence, kinda goes up at the wrong time, she her voice is just frankly annoying to listen to
 
I'm watching the Flames game right now. It's interesting that Campbell-Pascall being bad gets 14 pages, while Rick Ball being equally bad doesn't have people up in arms.
 
I didn't mind her watching the game, she has her homer glasses on but you want that for your team.
 
She's got great knowledge of the game. Better than most color commentators.

It's her delivery that is nails-on-a-chalkboard grating. It's like she's calling the middle frame of an Olympic qualifier for an event that nobody cares about. She doesn't really modulate her voice to fit the moment so it just feels like she's interjecting in this monotone way constantly.

I actually thought she was a lot better than usual tonight. A bit more inflection.
 
That chick who was just on with Caroline Cameron was worse than I would imagine an average 12 year old calling those highlights.
 
Got to mention John Garrett. Absolutely loath when I have to listen to him.

agree 100%, i actually like her knowledge but the she delivers makes me not want to listen, doubly-annoying i wanna listen but just, can't haha admittedly i came to this conclusion a couple weeks ago for sure and wanted to post it, maybe she's wayyyy worse some nights but no her delivery is just weird

Why can't she be just a housewife? Man, just do your household stuff or do some real job as a commentator or get another suitable job. No discrimination on women.

I am almost ashamed to even post this.

I am so supportive of women in so many ways. I am one of the least chauvinistic guys you'll meet. Women really are awesome. Most women anyway, lol.

HOWEVER.... for some reason, I cannot stand hearing a woman in the booth. I don't know why, but it really rubs me the wrong way. I don't care who it is, it's just a major tune-out. And for what it's worth, I also cannot stand ANY commentator, male or female, who work a hockey game like it's a baseball game and prattles on about some unrelated nonsense DURING PLAY! I yell at the TV when they d o that!

It's really her voice and her lack of creative speech, which annoys me. Same with Glenn Healy and P.J. Stock: Similar voices as Cassie's and constant rants.

I am a woman, I am a huge flames fan- yet Cassie Campbell makes it hard to watch the flames games. Does nothing for the team.

I don’t know why she irritates me SOOOO BADLY. Even made me google the fact today-LOVE I found this thread. I am clearly not the only one.

Cassie Campbell is god awful, but nothing compares to that dark day.
