BT is now a strong contender for "worst GM ever of a team I've cheered for". There's still quite a few steps to go before he overtakes the likes of MacLean, but he's making lots of "progress" in that direction.

Multiple sources saying there was plenty of interest in ROR and he won't be traded because he doesn't want to leave. Absolute GM malpractice.

Laughton is getting a 1st and we are going to sit on our hands because a guy without a NMC is being treated like he has one. This season is pretty easily the darkest moment in my 2+ decades of fandom. The Firesale comes close, but....man.

I'm told that ROR did not want to go to Toronto even though there was an offer on the table.

If this is true Trotz needs to pack his crap and get the hell out of here.

I'm OK on not trading him to Toronto. Even with no NTC, ROR had done Toronto, he hated it, that would be shitty to send him back. They also mostly have shit for assets. A New Jersey or similar though, different story.

I just don't think it should work that way. You want movement protection, give up some money for it like everyone else. Otherwise you get what you get in this business. Unless apparently you have Trotz for a GM.

If we had two similar offers, I'm fine doing him a solid, but if we're talking about a 1st+ being left on the table, we HAVE to make the deal even if he isn't excited about it

Yeah, I mean obviously I have no problem with talking to the player and giving him his choice of two good offers. But giving up on getting assets entirely is shooting yourself in the foot, because other GMs don't operate that way.

Let's not forget Matt "Retiring in Nashville" Duchene: 25 goals, 37 assists, 62 points in 61 games. That's excellent production for what we're paying him. It's too bad we're paying him to play on another team. I guess he didn't fit our team's "hard to play against" identity.

There's no way this isn't nothing but a huge failure, among many others. Our new identity is that we're a "Hard to Watch" team.

Wonder what Poile thinks?
I may be nuts here with all the bad things Trotz has done, but out of all of them the Duchene thing ticks me off the most. Gets rid of him because he was just "here to retire" and then turn around and spend a billion dollars on a bunch of old past their prime players?? Insanity. Duchene was still good, loved it here and wanted to be here- smh. He completely got screwed over. And we are now paying him to produce great numbers for a division rival?? Absolute insanity.

Who would you rather have right now- Duchene or Stamkos??

Remember it was for... CULTURE. Where is this culture now? The fans are rebelling, the players are being traded/waived/whatever and the team is probably the worst they have EVER been! Is that the CULTURE he was wanting to bring in? All with the non-retiring old guys! How does the Ownership just sit on their hands and let BT do this to the team? Someone has got to say/do something! STH are dropping like fly's!

So, he didn't even trade McCarron with these prices?? Smith? Sissons?
Nope. We are going to roll out the same crap next season plus whatever other old garbage he can pick up.

Best sellers market we have probably seen in a decade and our GM sits on his hands rather than using it as an opportunity to rebuild the team.

The only positive is he somehow managed not to get swindled out of Evangelista, ZLH, or Svechkov yet.

Watch us go on a run after the TDL and miss out on a high pick. That's the only thing missing from this NIGHTMARE of a season. I'm just exhausted with this team...
There's a significant probability of that happening. Mentioned it earlier in the season - we're now in the period where teams stop taking us seriously and start giving, like, 90% instead of 110% and starting their backups rather than their starters.
