That sounds an awful lot like a gm who trades the best dman in the history of the org for spare parts or sends our top dman to the AHL, or trades for a dman with chronic ankle problems, or loses our best player over 100k, I can go on and on and on. There is more. And that is all from the smartest one of the two.

Could have traded for Corey Perry but had to try to stick it to Mike Comrie.

lol what does that even mean? Fans who are 'fickle' stop watching when a team loses 7 out of 8. What a dumb choice of words. Those alliterations man, gotta love them. what lazy, dumb reporting.

The oilers media are just as stupid as the management. Can call out fans for being fickle but dead silent on asking hard questions to the organization they work for.

In all seriousness though. What the hell happened to Cam Talbot? What is just a one year fluke or are we cursed with not being able to ice a starter?

Starting to seriously think Roloson hurt more than himself during the finals.

Why are people talking about Lowe? The issue is cjrrent. Edmonton has 3 1st/2nd line players and a whole bunch of 4th liners on any good NHL team. They don't have single #1 or #2 defencman, they don't have a single player on Either the back end or fwd group with a bomb. AND THE WORST PART is that oiler are somehow spent to the cap.....how is that not being talked about, oil dont have enough skilled players but are in a cap crunch?!?!?!

Coach rolls lines instead of using his greatest weapon (Drai, and McDavid) to his advantage. He decided to put 2 offensive anchors on his only 2 scoring lines (Looch, Kassian) I. A tight game

same old crap hockey we have seen so much of over the years....what more can you say really? my only hope is that Koskinen will now play 2 out of every 3 game now the rest of the season because he's clearly outplayed Talbot ! knowing management though, Talbot is in line to get a long term, rich deal LOL !!

They need to fire Mclellan right now. The season is salvageable but if they don't do something to spark the team fast, it won't be for long.

Here's the thing, the team usually takes on the personality of their coach. Right now, the team is wound up as tight as can be so when one thing goes wrong, it just snowballs from there. I have no doubt that this coach is part of the reason why they play so tight deathly afraid to make a mistake. His grumpy demeanor can be grating after a while I'm sure.
They need to have fun again, they need to be able to play with a little freedom and this coach seems to be the antithesis of that.
Another thing is I think the players know he's a lame duck so I don't think they respect whatever message he's sending.

I don't know if Gulutzan is the answer but he does seem like a guy that would be more fun to play for and allow them to play a little looser and with more emotion. This would also allow Vivieros to come down to the bench full time and run the PP. Lets see what we have in these guys the rest of the season and roll with it.
I know the problems with the organization lie much deeper than Mclellan but it's pretty clear that he doesn't have control of this team anymore and that they are in desperate need of a fresh voice behind the bench. It's time to cut the cord already, just put him out of his misery.
Oh and Schwartz can go with him. Sick of seeing every goalie they have including a monster like Koskinen get beat up high and seeing Brossoit succeed in Winnipeg is even more salt in the wound. Dump this guy already.

My preference is to see Katz nut up and clean house starting with his buddies and then Chia but since that isn't realistic right now, I'd settle for a head coaching change.
It’s so frustrating that the change wasn’t made in April. All these problems you talk about were evident as far back as January at least. When has a coach ever quit on his players like he did last season and then get them back later. A coaching change can’t come fast enough. I truly believe a new voice behind the bench will make this team better. Even if it doesn’t, I have no doubt Mclellan isn’t going to turn the team around. At least take a shot at trying something different. The season is lot for sure with the status quo.

Guess us chicken littles were right eh? There are several posters on this board that are owed an apology by the Chia apologists.

Not sure what you're reading but a larger group want McLellan gone first. If Chia happens to go with him nobody would be crying but it's not a requirement.

So no, no apologies necessary to a certain segment of thread derailers.
